Title: Oh dear - Are my plants dying
Post by: jollyroger123 on May 05, 2007, 10:19:07
I recently moved all my toms and my cucumbers into the greenhouse, and a lot of them are showing signs of yellowing is this just due to the shock of the semi-outside world and is it going to be fatal.

See pics

The containers they are in were £1.95 from B&Q a few holes in the bottom and you have some very nice big pots,

Oh dear, they do look a bit sad, hopefully it's just the shock of the change in temp & they will recover.   :)

Have they been in a draught? I've had a bit of that on some Aubergines, in the greenhouse but near the door and it has been windy!

When you potted them up from the small to large pots what was the root system like?

The root system was good, i have held off planting my peppers and cape gooseberries out, could be a draft coming in the the door although it seals pretty well.  There does seem to be some growth continuing although this might be me being hopeful. i don't wish to lose them now i've had them going since the beginning of March.

The Superbel seems worse than the Marketmore.

Thanks

Wish I could help but the truth is I can't  ???

You say; i've had them going since the beginning of March. I would have thought they would have been much larger plants than they are  ???

So your problems I would guess happened before you moved them into the greenhouse.

I would suggest that you get them all tied in& supported with the split canes I see you have and just hope that things will improve.

If it not too cheeky what are your peppers like? a picture would help!

As I say I am sorry I can't help more but as I guess you know yourself your plants are decidedly weak so its fingers crossed that the improve.

Incidently ease off on the water, this can only worsen things i.e. there is a limit as to how much water the plants will take up and if the are over wet.

I think this might be the cause of the yellowing!

 :) :) :) :) :) :)
Great news

The flowers that were on the cucumbers have now opened and there is definite signs of new growth from the top.  The tomatoes have grown and have developed proper greenhouse leaves (Dark Green) as opposed to the light green house leaves.  I think they were just needing time to settle in, Ill post some pics of my peppers later.  My Peppers, Melons and Cape gooseberries will all be going out at the weekend, Ill find space some how.

Thanks for the advice ;D ;D
