Title: Pea germination problems?
Post by: Sprout on May 04, 2007, 12:49:29
If like me, you've had problems with peas germinating (only 16 out of 64 germinated in roottrainers this year) try soaking them in water for 24 hours and then leave on damp kitchen towels. I've just done this (in despair and about to forsake peas forever) but after 24 hours on the paper, half had sprouted and a day later, all had sprouted roots. Whey-hay!

Eh up Sprout, we always get a good germination but when I start a new variety from HSL I always soak, for an hour or two to make sure!
;D

Does the soaking apply to beans as well?
I've not been getting good germination with them...

Yes, you can soak beans. I'm doing a late sowing of red-flowered broadies, and I'l be soaking them, as with only a few seeds I want max germination.
