Title: Cabbage question
Post by: caroline7758 on May 03, 2007, 21:19:16
I bought some winter veg plug plants from one of the big suppliers in the autumn and the only ones to survive have been 3 cabbages! They seem to be "hearting up" but in a rather rugby-ball shape rather than round. Shall I leave them any longer or cut them now?

we have some that grow like that, they're greyhound, we used some without a heart, like spring cabbage and have 2 left, hearting up..hope that helps  :)

I bought some from Marshalls, and the two lots of Cabbage are growing well, the Broccoli has started but the Kale was a complete wash out!
The Chinese were even worse... only the Chrysanthemum greens were any good,
we have taken shoot cuttings and they have all taken... it will still probably run to seed, does anyone know where we can get seed?
???

SD ,If you think your cuttings may run to seed might be worth a shot to let them flower then tie  a paper  bag  over flowers ..
Old Yorkie saying " If it costs nowt it's worth a try"  ;)
