Hope to see some of you here, I'm the harrased one running the plant sales!
;D
not long to go then, saddad..are you getting nervous, we've just finished arranging everything for saturday..some people say we won't have enough but I'm worried no one will turn up !!
we've leafleted all the surrounding estates and posted notices in town centres..so, all we can do is wait and see..
hope everything goes well and this beautiful weather favours your open day :)
Hope to call in on the way back from Barnsdale.
I'll look forward to it...
Don't panic Manics... our September one was held in a near gale and still they came...
;D
will try and make it saddad............got freinds in derby due a visit.........but wifes due date for new allotmenteer is very close to that date.............so may have to grab my plants and run!!!!!
As I've just put in the Barnsdale visit thread, I'll also be at the Open Day on the Sunday as my lottie is on that site, so will be available should my professional midwifery skills be required....! ;D
Let's hope not Deb... but any publicity is good publicity!
;D
Perhaps I should advertise my willow bower as a natural childbirth room.....what about the Kingfisher pond as a birthing pool...... ;D ;D ;D
I'll bring my trumpet XX
Saddad, when you have your open day, do you have anything else, i.e, stalls for other things apart from plants..
you've guessed it, the lads have decided to organise a 'fun' day on the rugby field, we'll have 3 tables of plants, hanging baskets etc, we need ideas for other things
ideas ? ;D
We do refreshments and guided talks/tours but that is for NGS which is up market we have done all sorts before.. tombola, raffle, bric a brac, but not this time!
:)
Good luck.
Manics - what about cream teas ? You could pre-prepare to make easier and use paper plates etc.
Or strawberries and cream, if it is the right time of year.... or something else using your produce? Home made jams, chutneys etc. A garden on a tray competition for the children? I'll keep thinking....

use my strawberries, I think not..mind you, I could buy some manky ones and pour sugar on them..
thanks for the suggestions, we're having a meeting soon, I'll see what ideas others have
but, they're not having my strawberries !! ;D
sorry, saddad, didn't mean to hijack your thread :)
No problem, it keeps it at the top of the page!
;D
Scones with strawberry jam and cream !! XX Jeannine( save the Straws for you)
I probably will not be able to make as the boss (Girl Friend) needs the car for work that day but can you post a Postcode for a Sat Nav just in case I may be able to take her get to Derby and back
Gary
DE23 6JH... just off the ring road. If you drive round the ring road you actually drive through our neighbouring site (Normanton) which was cut in two when they built the ring road! There will be large yellow signs on the Stenson Road/ Ringroad roundabout!
;D
This Sunday... anyone on the way back from Barnsdale is more than welcome...
If we keep dodging the frosts there might even be some plants to sell!
;D
Good luck with the day - hoping that the sun shines and the rain stays away
will keep everything crossed for you, saddad, we're now approaching the 900.00 profit margin so, I hope you get lots of visitors :)
I've just e-mailed Chris Evans hoping for a national plug on drive time!
;D
The NGS bright yellow posters are out locally, and I've just spent the afternoon sorting out stuff for the plant sale..........not bad for only two hours sleep after finishing night shifts this morning! ;D
sorry for being thick - is it today or tomorrow ? If its today, good luck, if its tomorrow I might try and find you.
It's Sunday, starts at 11am. ;D
Good Luck, I am sorry I can't be with you, XXXX Jeannine
I hope that it is a really successful day and that I can make it next year
We made a flying visit today on our way back from Barnsdale. What an amazing site! So many plots and such variety, and obviously a real community project. Saddad was indeed the stressed one on the plant sales, did a great job on us!I'd never heard of Achocha before but he persuaded us to buy one! Saw DebP again, too- really impressed with the work she's done on her plot in such a short time, and loved the willow den. Sorry, didn't get any pics, we were in a rush to get home as daughter no.1 had to be taken to dancing.
Raised just a few Pennies under £800 today... lovely to see all those people..
now the proverbial "redneck"... should have worn sunscreen!
;D
Great to see Caroline and OH again, I have almost lost my voice today (there's a first!) and it took me all afternoon to plant out 30 sweetcorn because I kept stopping and chatting to all the visitors!!! I also have pink bits where I shouldn't thanks to the good weather, thank goodness we didn't hold it last weekend when it was foul! ;D
Wow that is fantastic...are you still in the land of the living the 2 of you XX Jeannine
(In a faint voice)I'm off for little lie down now thank you.....
glad it all went well for you, do you get a rest now ? ;D
In theory, until it all kicks off again in September........ ;D
we're doing 2 tables on june 17th, one of the lads has organised a car booty at the club, so we're going to try to boost our total up...mad, all of us :o :o
The plant residue will be sold off at the gate over the next few weeks to boost the total...
::)
Well done you guys ;D sounds like you had a great day
Out of interest, what does your site spend the profits on? Our site doesn't currently do anything like this, and once we're established I might try suggesting it ;)
Mainly to keep us solvent Kitten as the chairman is a meglomaniac with plans for world domination... shouldn't complain though as we have proper toilets, a museum and great facilities... we have spent @ £ 30,000 while I have been treasurer... but our rents are pathetically low at £15 pa... we only put it up from £10 pa last year!!!!
::)
Well done saddad and debs. ;D ;D ;D
I think it's agreat idea and am definately going to suggest it to my lottie assoc as they don't do anything like that. Aside from fund raising it's a great community thing too eh?
Raised £450 for NGS and just under for us from the plant sales... here are a few pics that weren't out last week..

Come down and see us sometime!!!!!!
Brilliant Saddad ;D Which plants sold well?
We have a market stall for the cgaa 30 June at Grantham - but tough competition as there are 3 stalls selling plants and incl veg. I'm concentrating on the herbs and lettuce at the moment - might take my excess toms down but they are BIG now! Not sure the herbs will be up in time though grrrr
Runner beans and Sweet Corn sold out first, closely followed by Leeks. Sold loads of Toms/Pepper/Chillis but still had some left as loads on offer. Marigolds go well, as do begonias and busy Lizzies. Mesembryathemums and Gazanias also popular.
We have raised £ 446 for NGS and so far £444 for us but some plant money still to come in...
;D
Lovely pics saddad, your plot always looks amazing ::) ;D I don't know how you find the time to fit in the plant sales along with keeping on top of the plot!
Easy Kitten my OH does all the work... well that's what she says...
;D
The forecast looks good for the weekend. Good luck :-*
Ooops! I forgot to look past page 1 of the posts and realised I was a week late!!! That's what happens when one is browsing the forum at the same time as working! Multi-tasking gone a bit wrong! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
