Title: Mange Tout
Post by: Kea on May 02, 2007, 16:16:16
Just checking to see if you can start mange tout off in toilet rolls like you can beans or would fibre pots be better. Assuming I can dig deep enough in my concrete soil to get the whole length of a toilet roll in.

We start them in cells or 3" pots and plant as clumps of 5-10 along the wire..

So using 3" fibre pots might be a better idea as i have some of these.
If you don't have enough toilet rolls i could send you my son for a couple of weeks!!!

I always start my mange tout and other peas off in toilet roll tubes.  I also use kitchen roll tubes cut in half.    I save the tubes all year round so I have plenty when the sowing time is here.

nothing really to do with the topic but you made me laugh.
once many years ago in sainsburys my mother shouted to me across the veg dept "hey peter do you want to get some of these mangy trout" to my shame i pretended i wasnt with her.
We can laugh about it now.
