We are having a market stall to raise money for our association in 4 weeks.... what sort of things should i be sowing to sell that will be ready in 4 weeks???
Chilli plants always do well. (have a picture of what they will look like when fully grown too).
I don't know how big you can grow them in that time though.
Tomato plants do well too, especially good for people who only want a couple to go in a growbag.
chillis seem to take ages to grow... i could try some more though as i have some seed.
I have toms and will do some more.
I thought of doing lettuce packs as i have lots of different types of lettuce.
french beans??? I have 1/2 kg of beans too.
All ideas welcome though - keep em coming.
Baby basil plants, my best sellers!
I forgot those, I sold loads last year, I must plant some.
I am so far behind this year. :(
Sweet peas? I'm going to sow some in 4 inch pots to go on plant stall at school fair. That's how they sell them at the grocers. I'll have to buy some to see how many you get. They are 99p a pot. You probably get about 10 I'd think?
I'm also doing marigolds and nasturtiums, toms and tumbling toms, chillies and peppers. Mine have taken about 6 weeks to get 6 leaves though although they are looking pretty good. That was on kitchen windowsill so if you've got somewhere warmer they might be big enough.
We were going to do sunflowers but decided they would be nightmare to transport, but I've sown some Scarlet Queen and another variety of bushy sunflower so I might take those along.
I wanted to do more veg and did consider sowing a few carrots into black buckets as a thing for the kids but might experiment this year and sell them next!
:-\ ::) :)
Courgette and squash plants always look like they have filled the pot really quickly, and would be ready to put out in 4 weeks time for people that bought them. Also if you go for cheap seeds from Lidl and Aldi then should get good value out of a packet.
:)
little gem are supposed to go from seed to plant in 6 weeks..I suppose they could be done as salad leaves :)
Just germinated watermelon seeds were going for silly money in Ebay last week so there must be a demand for those.
Good luck
Am thinking of doing a similar thing, but haven't got a clue about how much to charge for pretty much anything! Any ideas on proces welcome!!!
How about salad pots??
Something with 2 or 3 types of cut and come again salad with some radish included?
How about sweetpeas - a pot of about 6 - 8 about 2" high goes for £2.99 - £3.50 in the garden centres.
Rhubarb?? Started now for next year?
No one has mentioned brassicas. These will germinate quickly and achieve saleable size within 4 weeks and there seems to be plenty of demand for them. The basic cost, effort, resources and reward are similar for a cabbage to more exotic plants. Cluster sown modules of leeks or onions may reach sale size in the time span and should fetch £1 a cell full suitable for later transplanting potting on.
The available time is a bit short for many items so stay focused on plants with quick germination, rapid growth.
Pot sown runner beans if sown now will look good without being tall and tangled.
OliveOil, also don't forget the plug plant place down near me - all veg are 5pence per plug - just repot them into larger pots - I've got some you could have, and there you are - instant profit! ;D

Kathi, where/what is this wondrous place? :o
It's Delfland nursery - in Doddington, near Peterborough - Iwas told about it last year by Supersprout -really is a fantastic place, earlier this week I bought 15 Rasberry canes for £5.98! - ;D
