Title: Mini Moan
Post by: Emagggie on May 01, 2007, 22:04:32
Just having a bit of a drip here, the b****y Japanese Knotweed is back next door with a vengeance and creeping into my front garden yet again, this means more midnight weed painting when the car park is empty, Horsetail popping up every where on the plot, and now it looks like it's ants eating my broad beans......I'm beginning to feel like Typhoid Mary. :(

moan away, maggie, if it makes you feel better..
we've got frost forecast on wednesday night, we've got to move or cover up 40 hanging baskets, about 60 trays of bedding plants an various other 'half hardy' plants..and the guy who helps us is away on..yes, you've guessed it, wednesday ..
why do you have to paint at midnight when the car park's empty?..didn't know ants ate broad beans
anyway, here's hoping tomorrow's better   :)

Pity you Manics.....that's going to be a job and a half :o
I got industrial strength round up for J K weed, and as the Pub car park is used by the local Mummies taking their little darlings to school and they can't be bothered to walk the few steps to the entrance, so use the infested part as a cut through. Pub aren't interested in helping, sadly.
Going to sprinkle BBs with ant killer tomorrow.

does the weed killer work, there's jk weed on the rugby ground, they mow it down on the pitch but around the edge, it's left to grow..it's about 100 metres away from the plot at the moment ..I'm hoping it's slow growing and doesn't get here 'til I've retired.. ;D

hope your broadies are ok  :)

Hi Emaggie,

Make sure you read the label on the ant killer berfore you put it on the beans, the one I have says it must not be used on or near food.

The ants are probably milking blackfly anyway, if so then getting rid of the blackfly may solve the ant problem.

Ooh crumbs Belinda, I didn't bother to try to read it as I didn't have my specs. Will look tomorrow. I may have room for something else after all then. ::)
Yes, Maz. Eventually. The very nice young man at our local tree specialist place said approx 5 years of treatment should do the trick! It doesn't seem to move at a great pace, it just gets thicker and thicker.....
