Just made nettle and herb veg. as a side dish to air-chilled, Yorkshire grain-fed, non-genetically modified, free range roast chicken from happy chooks whose owner doesn't mistreat his wife etc!
Spring onion tops and herbs (oregano, golden oregano, thyme, sage and bayleaf) fried in butter
Add white dead nettle tops (including the flowers) and 'ordinary' nettles
(P.S. white dead nettles are what I've always called 'mock nettles'. They don't have a sting, they're a bit paler in colour than ordinary ones and the white flowers attract bees. You can also suck the nectar out of the flowers and it's YUMMY!)
Steam for a bit and add a slosh of white wine + black pepper
At the last minute add a spoon of creme fraiche and (maybe) some grated parmesan
I'm having mashed potato with it too but I won't patronise anyone with the recipe ;D
Mmmmmmmm - sounds yummy!
I was only asking OH the other day if he used to suck the nectar from white nettle flowers - he looked at me like I was mad! :o Glad ther's other nettle suckers out there!
I used to suck it out of clover as well ;D Happy days!
And fushias :).
Yummy sounding recipe TB.
Please do not follow this recipe!
I have been chitting through the eye of a needle since 7am this morning and it has nothing to do with potatoes.
Apologies

Young nettles are known for their "cleansing" effects in herblore. But think.....you haven't had to go to the expense of a celeb colonic! :-\
I am well aware of how much money I've saved by not booking in for my monthly colonic Suzanne ;D
Mind you ... what I've saved in the clinic fees I've probably spent on bog roll.
