Well |I just looked up the weather in Hull for the next week. 0% chance of rain and lowest expected temperatures are 8c. in the night.
What on earth is going on
.
We have been eating rhubarb and asparagus for a month and we are still in April, this is really weird.
I am wondering what effect this is going to have on the season generally.
Strawberries are smothered in flowers.Gooseberries are the size of large peas and even my peach tree is loaded with tiny wee peaches.
Stuff has had to be put out because of the heat in the cold greenhouses.
If it is like thgis in April do you think the season is going to be a long one or do you think it is just going to get hotter and hotter.
I am actually starting to get concerned about it now. I do believe in global warming but I expected it to take generations.
XX Jeannine
..i share your concerns but the damage were doing has been going on for generations.
When you look further afield you have major rivers in China that are now non-recoverably because of chemical polution, you have tracts of jungle being cleared to grow palm oil which is causing heart attaacks but because its cheap its used in out cheap food!
Things will only get worse!!
I hate to be a pessimist but I tend to agree Cambourne, all the time carbon emissions remain fairly constant then we are just storing up god knows what disasters for the (near?) future, and like Jeannine I wasn't expecting the impact just yet. Unfortunately it is too late to stop it now, our climate is changing and we don't really understand how and we have absolutely no control over it. Terrifying.
Just a hiccup, this time last year it was freezing cold and wet.
I sooooo hope you're right Ace
It wasn't in Hull. we picked new poatoes out of a raised bed 1st week in May,!! Jeannine
hopefully, it's going to stay warmish until after the plant sale at the weekend, we're all keeping everything crossed ;D
My expectation is that we will have a wet summer to compensate, after all, at the moment the moisture is beng sucked up / held in the upper atmosphere, but at some point there will have to be a balancing out and we will have precipitation & thunder storms all through the summer.
metcheck's giving rain next week here :)
Shows heavy rain for us next Tuesday.
And frost this Saturday - in the graphic display - but not in the day-to-day listing??
I'm just over the river from you Jeannine in Cleethorpes :-\
Its been bitterly cold here today and really dull, but I guess the clouds keep the frost away!
Where do you all look for reliable long forecasts?
Barb
Dunno about reliable, but the usual websites are Metcheck & the Met Office
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/
As said - 'reliable'??
The best place to look honestly is...out of the window XX Jeannine
I'm with you Jeannine. Get outof bed, check the weather, then plan the day.
I don't trust Metcheck any more; its rain often turns out to be a mirage. Let's hope we really do get some serious precipitation.
People will be talking about us after that last post, .................I am with you ...so get out of bed and plan the day...........
Get lost I got out first yesterday, you do it today XX Jeannine LOL
ah right I did wonder, the long range forecasts are a joke in our house, the BBC always paints a pretty picture, the uk.weather.com site is always doom and gloom and metcheck is somewhere in the middle ;D
I thought from what you were saying, you relied on them ;)
Actually I am all for choices, personally i always go for the one that offers me the best I can hope for. Isn't science wonderful XX Jeannine
