Anyone else growing these this year? They're a 'container', dwarf version but all of my plants seem to think that they're due to go out on an eight foot frame on the lottie and are heading for the sky :( There's a good four inches of stem between leaf pairs. Are they just being ambitious? - or is this normal? - or am I managing to attenuate them somehow? They've just been growing for a two-three weeks in a cold bedroom, on the windowsill for light - and although tall they don't look etiolated, at least not to me.
What do people think?
Not grown them but they get to 3-4' presumably they then make a lot of side shoots from the leaf nodes...
:-\
I grew them once. Got a good crop and they looked good in the container in my garden. I think the were around 2'x3'.
They will probably bush out given time. You could try breaking off the growing tip?
Thanks - a bit taller than I was expecting, so I'll stop worrying about them then!
I have a packet in my hand which says height to 45cm on it. From Nicky's nursery.XX Jeannine
But what's that in feet Jeannine? I'm old school ;)
Me too, but that is what the packet says, Looking on my tape measure 45cm is a tad less than 18 inches. XX Jeannine
Well at this rate they'll be there by the day after tomorrow! - I'm off to have a firm word with them ...
Maybe you should look them up on the net, mine came from Nicky's . But I don't think they grow much taller than that. I think I grew them last year alongside my other bush bean assortment and I don't remember any being tall. XX Jeannine
I have found them in 4 seed catalogues all say 18 inches, I think you better give them that chat tonight XX jeannine
I grew these one year, I was disappointed - can't remember why though - maybe harvest was poor. ???
Never mind a chat Jeannine - I'm gonna put them in front of the computor and bring some images up on the screen - see if an hour or so of looking at what they're supposed to be like will put them right ;D
Well I have heard of folks who talk to their plants , I have even heard of someone who played there orchids Mozart but letting them stay up late to watch TV I must have heard it all now...XX Jeannine
