Title: Lavender/Rosemary Beetle
Post by: Superstar on April 25, 2007, 18:22:34
Whilst pottering in the garden the other evening I was interested to see some beautiful silvery looking bugs on my lavender cuttings.  I found this link from the RHS.  http://www.rhs.org.uk/research/projects/rosemary_beetle.asp

It would seem I have to murder them.  I will now be going through all my lavender and rosemary plants looking for beetles and eggs.  They would seem to have come from cuttings I bought as my own are looking very healthy.

Shame they are destructive, they are very pretty. Not that I hope to see them on my rosemary bushes though... :-\

I have gone through all my cuttings and have had to throw more than half of them away.  I don't put all this down to beetle.  It was quite obvious that some of them had never grown a new root since being potted on from the supplier.  Given my total experience of buying by post I will never do it again.
