Title: Aquathingies Broadies
Post by: MrsKP on April 25, 2007, 07:38:35
Pods are setting!

Oh and have I mentioned I have some Twinkle pea pods too ??

I'd like to thank my entire gardening family but most of all Mr Bee for working tirelessly on my behalf.  I shall treasure this moment.

;D

Mine are about six inches high, but then I planted them this year. The thing that surprised me was, I had some old, blackened and rather mouldy seed which I slung in the holes with the new seed to see whether any of it would germinate. It came up perfectly well, and I'm now using it to fill gaps. They don't seem to mind being moved at all.

I'm so impressed with the broadies. Last year I sowed them in spring (Green Windsor) and was so impressed seeing as I hadn't had broadies in years so tried some autumn sown aquathingies just to try something different.  The GW's are about a foot tall now, with no blooms.

I thought I was losing a lot of blossom as it was all going black, so I was really pleased and surprised to see pods this morning.

Must remember to check the weather as i took the windbreak fleece off them all this morning.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I shall have a meal of broad beans before the end of May. They are setting well and the recent rain will have helped.

I planted my aquathingies [much better name  :)] in February & they are about 1m high with loads of flowers - no beans visible yet.
