Thay look lovely! I used to hate them as we were always given the tinned kind when I was a kid. A friend let me try some fresh from his garden and I couldn't believe how great they tasted! Hopefully I will get round to putting some on my allotment.

Happy eating!

I am so envious, but patience is a virtue and I have only 2 years to wait!

Mine on the plot have finally given up the ghost.  Only a few spears last year, and none this.  :-[  I may get some more crowns and try them in a different area.  Looks yummy Tim.  The old boy is on cauliflower cheese, and yes, it is one of MY cauliflowers! ;D

'Correctly', Kev - in a 'colander' in a tall 'asparagus pan'. Tall, so that the thick ends cook in water & the tips in steam.

I'm afraid we just lay them in a shallow layer in a 'baking pan' with the thick ends a bit more over the heat. For what good that does!!

Main thing is not to overcook. After all, it's great raw in salads. We do it until the tip just bends when held by the base. And NO need to trim the base ends - they give you something to hold it by, & there's often more edible than you think.

Shame, Emma!

I find it easier to do them in my electric steamer laid on their sides..and on the subject.I have eaten aparagus almost everday for the last three weeks and yes I am getting tired of it. How soon we forget!!! XX Jeannine
