Title: My imagination
Post by: Eristic on April 23, 2007, 23:47:09
Is it my imagination or do plants immidiately grow bigger the moment they are repotted? I potted on 5 dhudi plants this afternoon and they looked twice as large this evening. Do plants sense the extra space and spread themselves out like a lout on a big sofa?

Oddly enough, I was thinking exactly the same about the tomato plants I potted up to their final positions (ex Morrisons flower buckets) on Sunday!!!!

that's exactly what my calliope aubs did Eristic !   ;D

and like you quizzical, my toms that have made it to the black buckets look as if they were made to be be there, where the one's still in the wee pots look ........ wee !

found some nasty looking yellowing leaves on some of the toms though, so in good husbandry stylee, i cut them off and pretended i never saw them !   8)

Ha! ;D
It's probably just my imagination but often only a few hours after transplanting, the plants seem to have grown a lot even though they are not pot bound. Not just these plants but many times there appears to be a noticable increase in size of a plant shortly after transplanting.

Dhudi! Probably a cucurbit, looks like a green marrow/squash, climbs to about 12' and is a staple food in Asia. I was given some seeds by an Indian lady on the site in exchange for a Jerusalem artichoke so now I have to try to grow my Dhudi to equal hers without her knowledge of the plant.
