Title: Root Aphids
Post by: Palustris on April 23, 2007, 20:52:43
Bought a conifer,Pinus Mugo, on Saturday. Come to plant it today and find it is riddled with root aphids. Anyone ever used a systemic insecticide on Conifers? Or, better still, washed the roots clean and the plant survived?
I know take it back and complain, but a 100 mile drive is not really economic!

Sorry Palustris, never tried any of your suggestions for the root aphids, but nothing ventured, etc.

Whilst a 100 mile drive may be uneconomic, a telephone call would not.  If it was a reputable garden centre, they should be only too pleased to rectify their mistake.

A product containing imidacloprid will deal with them, applied as a soil drench, in the same way that vine weevil killer is applied.
