Post by: madbrad on April 22, 2007, 01:49:53
Hi I'm new here & was wondering if any kind soul has a couple of spare seed potatoes by any chance so I could try growing them in a old compost bag I live just  outside edinburgh

Thanks for looking in Madrad

Sorry, I put the last of mine in in the week :( Have you looked in  Poundland. Last time I was in there, they had a good size bag for £1(no surprise there then)

Oh and welcome to the site. I'm sure you will enjoy it .

You could try Alan Romans- he's supposed to be the potato king and is based in Fife (Cupar) if you fancy a run out to save the postage.

I've got some spare Kestrel - will have a peek at them tonight and see if they are still okay, they've been in a plastic bag for the last fortnight, in my garage.  Should they be okay to plant now?  And does anyone have any suggestion for how to post them, should madbrad be interested?

Just a thought
Seed pots will be reduced so much now that they will be cheaper to buy a bag than to post a few

Hi Madbrad - thanks for the update!  I'm glad they're doing well for you.  I haven't a clue about growing them in tubs - in fact I haven't a clue about growing them at all!  I just bunged mine in and away they went!
Hope you get a nice harvest from them!  Let me know!  (I'll be jealous if they're better than mine!! ;D )
;)
