Around about november last year i got a quite small plum tree (about 4ft high), and now it has got plenty of fresh new shoots on it but i'm just wondering when it should blossom, and if you think theres anychance of getting plums this year?

Mine has flowered but to be honest I can`t remember if it did in it`s first year or so-and no -no fruit until it`s established-you will have to be patient
I also have a small plum tree on semi dwarf rootstock, no plums in the first year but last summer had a light crop and they were delicious, definitely worth waiting for :)
I planted two plum trees (Victoria & Pershore Yellow Egg) last spring. I had no blossom last year.
This year, lots of beautiful blossom, now with tiny fruitlets developing. ;D
So, maybe yours will not flower this year but al systems go once it's had a chance to settle in next year.
Best to take off any fruit which grow this year, and lety it establish itself first. They soon start cropping; my Cambridge Gage is now about twelve feet high, and was covered in blossim a couple of weeks ago. The Victoria died in the drought, unfortunately.
I planted one last year, but don't seem to have any blossom as yet. Unlike the morello cherry, planted last year as well and produced a few cherries. This year it is covered in blossom.
Your plum will start to blossom when it's old enough to produce fruit, they grow first, then get mature enough to reproduce. Probably at 3 - 4 years old.
Don't know what I would do without you all for further info - there is never enough info on the label/packet.
