Title: sweetcorn sowing question.....
Post by: greenscrump on April 19, 2007, 19:48:12
this may be a hugely daft question  ::) but I am about to sow Kelvedon Glory, I've not grown sweetcorn before and the instructions say to sow 2 seeds per pot or per station - do I then separate them later ???

thanks

Hi,
If you are sowing sweetcorn in pots or modules I would say sow only one per module as you should expect at least 90% germination.

I plant in toilet rolls which saves root disturbance on planting out

I have just had 100% germination (my second batch). The first went out under a frame 3 days ago.

beautiful specimens allaboutliverpool - was the manure you used to mulch well rotted ??

I have my toilet rolls at the ready Okra - and a supply of used teabags to bung in the end as suggested by someone (Lish ??) on an earlier toilet roll thread  ;)

never heard of the tea bag idea before buts sounds a brilliant way of retaining moisture
