Title: First tomato flower set today!
Post by: natasha on April 19, 2007, 17:10:53
Yep, the variety is called "Black elephant" and the plant is still pretty small, seeds were planted on 20th of February, but I can see a big odd bud. I know it will produce a misshaped fruit and I should pinch it out, but I won't. It is my first tomato flower this year and it brought me such a joy by being there that I think it deserves a chance to grow. :-* :-* :-*

I have a Mirabelle tomato which has a lot of flowers. I have just used water on it so far, when do I need to give it some tomato feed?

My 2 Tumblers( I only grow 2) are in the greenhouse in hanging baskets. I push them on as I hate store bought fruit,I plant these super early and give them light and heat. The flavour is acceptable but not fantastic but they are earlier than anything else I have found and they do give me  a  very early start. All my others are way behind these 2. XX Jeannine
