We visited an "open garden" at the weekend and spotted these two characters sparring; they were quite "wild"

Good pic Flossie. They certainly look as if they mean business. Thanks for posting.

We are inundated with them, my dog loves flushing them out to chase:)
Does anyone know if they can survive in the wild? We seem to have the same chap back from last year, very confidant fellow will eat crumb from under the window sill while you watch.

Theyll survive perfectly OK in the UK until shot or hit by a car

they'll go thru a row of peas in seconds  ???

They're essentially Asian birds, which are perfectly hardy here, and live with the assistance of people raising stock for shooting. They're also clumsy birds, and whether they'd survive so well without addidions to the population, or whether foxes and other predators would wipe them out eventually, is anyone's guess.
