Title: Cane toppers
Post by: quizzical1 on April 17, 2007, 11:40:12
Last weekend I bought a bag of 100 plastic ball pond balls from "Toys'R'Us", for £9.99, which I intend to drill an 8mm hole in each, to use as cane toppers.
Useful either to stop eyes being poked out by accident, or to stop the canes penetrating fruit netting, fleece etc., and at <10p each, much cheaper than the tennis balls that chap was using on "The Big Dig".
Also very colourful on the lottie.

Good idea, also try the empty little probiotic drink bottles, you know, Yakult etc!

I am also collecting the 330ml and half litre soft drinks and water bottles as eye poke protectors, as they tend to act as bird scarers too by virtue of the fact that they rattle and hum ( a good title for a cd?) slightly in the breeze, and will supplement my collection of redundant cds and pc discs.

I sometimes use the snail shells that the thrushes have left behind
a little bit of wet soil inside ,stick on a treat. Very Derek Jarmanesque!

If I can find them with the snails still inside will that save on the using extra soil?

I thought I was the only one with actimel bottles all over my plot! Trouble is we drink 2 of these a day and the Actimel bottle mountain is growing as I can't chuck them out now! Maybe I should offer some on freecycle?
