I cut a large cauliflower today and have quite a lot more ready.
Apart from cauliflower cheese and boiling it I am wondering what else I could do with them, any suggestions please?
I was going to add a photo of it but don't know how to do it:)
I love Cauliflower in a vegetable curry, the easiest way is in a Patak's Korma Sauce, I think the recipe is on their Canadian website:
http://www.pataks.ca/recipes/vault/navratan-korma.html
There is a Cauliflower Curry recipe too which looks good.
I think there are Cauliflower Soup recipes too, you could probably google it.
The Riverford website might have cauli recipes too, I checked it has! :

Good luck.
I like cauliflower florets, parboiled then dipped in a light batter and fried...
Many thanks for those suggestions Tulippa.
All I need now is to know how to put pics on here as I have a pond too at the allotment, not posh or even smart but the love of my life.
And I am so very proud of my cauli :)
Cut into very small florets and stir fry with ginger and garlic :P :P :P
Ailshka, thanks for that one but what do I eat them with?
Does cauli freeze well or should I make recipes up with it then freeze?
cauli florets freeze OK.....blanche them first.
I do battered florets and mushrooms....just a side dish to accompany a steak or chicken breast something?
Sorry to be a pain but what are the ingredients for the light batter?
Many thanks for your help.

Well done! That looks a real beauty! Deserves a lovely recipe... :)
I'd be really proud of it too. Thanks for this thread, I'm going to try growing cauliflowers this year and really like some of the suggested recipes here.
Hi Flossie,
Well those cauli's were meant to be last years winter one's and nothing happened but they looked so healthy I left them and hey pronto that's what I now have.
I was planning to have one of them with my Christmas dinner :D but better late than never I guess.
I am really pleased I can add photo's, latter I will put one of my pond on.
A great specimen!
But Caulis usually turn in at the same time till they are coming out of your ears, so succession is a good thing. And/or grow mini ones, depending upon the size of your family, so that each gets finished before it spoils.
Has pickled Cauli been mentioned?
Yours looks wonderfully white but mostly, unless you have a self-protecting variety, it is useful to bend a leaf over the curd.
Hi Tim,
No, pickled cauli hasn't been mentioned.
I tend to grow for the love of growing and don't think very much what I am going to do with all the stuff. I give most of what I grow to charity, well if it crops in time I do :D
Well done Chole, I only hope and pray my cauli turn out as good as yours as at the moment they have been eaten mostly and haven't grow at all. There's a poorly picture on my blog.
I know what you need it nice just to grow and see what happens. I love giving to friends & family.
tulippa thanks for posting that recipe my mouh's watering as i type....that's dinner sorted :-*
The batter I prefer to use for vegetables is tempura - lighter than the flour/egg/beer or milk one...and I go the lazy way - buy a sachet, add iced water & done!
I too can be tempted by a packet or two :D Thanks Alishka
Solved the problem this morning and gave 5 away to other plot holders, they were pleased and I was delighted.
Fingers crossed Rosyred yours do as well as mine. I did have mine covered although never did anything else to them. I bought loads of black sheets from Tesco when they had reduced them last year for 63p each and covered a bed and planted them in there, so maybe that's the secret.
Don't know how to get to your blog to have a look at them.
Batter...that reminds me.
I add at least some sparkling instead of ordinary water to the mix for Yorkshire pudding, which is the only batter I make. Gives a lighter pudding. (Think I read the suggestion in a Gary Rhodes book).
Wonder whether it would make a difference to other batters? Suppose if you're using beer it's got a bit of fizz already.
PS Yes I know it's only a wimp metro-southerner like me who would want his Yorkshire Pud a bit lighter, just thought I'd mention it....
Chloe - At the bottom of the message that I have written click on the http londonallotment and it will take you there.
Hi Rosyred,
Your allotment looks really good and puts me to shame. I might have grown a cauli but I am not as well organised as you. What a shame you never covered the cauli's but all else looks good.
Wherever do you keep the hen's? My allotment is just up the road from yours, well as the crow flies that is.
