Title: Nettle tea please!
Post by: Common_Clay on April 12, 2007, 20:55:47
Hi,

Can anyone please advise me on how to prepare nettles as a tea? I was told to put them in the oven, but I could use some tips on how long, how much, etc.

I did a search on here but couldn't seem to find an actual recipe.

Also, of the nettles I picked, I only took the leaves and they were generally the leaves just below the brand new, not-completely-formed leaves. Was this right? From what I have read, I'm thinking I should have taken the very top off?

  Thanks.  ;D

You just take some nettle leaves the ones from the top are the best, try to avoid the older leaves as they will turn the drink bitter(fresh or dried)boil them for at least a few minutes, pour off the juice, add sugar and drink it, if you dont like that omit the sugar and add salt and a hard boiled egg for nettle soup and if you dont like that its ment to be a good shampoo to aleviate scalp problems but ive not tried it my self.

Thanks, but how do you dry the leaves?
