I saw that in the Guardian - but don't understand. Is it part of a campaign? If so, who by and am I being thick?

On my first day of school my parents dropped me off at the wrong nursery.
There I was... surrounded by trees and bushes.

there are loads of kids on the site at the moment.

I have found some jobs for them to do like using there bucket and spades to help fill the wheelbarrows with soil.

Or wind up my radio.

Or fill watering cans.

But your right i cant eat a whole one either.

I had the same thing when I was a nipper, my dad gave me a tanner to go to the saturday morning pictures. When I got home they had moved.

Explains a lot  ;) ;)

Made me giggle. (okay, appeals to my non-child liking side)

My parents always threatened to move when I went away to college. One year, when I was doing my postgrad in Scotland, they did! They just sort of forgot to tell me... I had to phone my aunt to get their new address and phone number. ;)

It's the stand-in for Steve Bell while he's away.

Despite what Social Services may think, there is nothing wrong with child labour down the allotment !

Child labour on the lottie is compulsory in my house - if they want to eat it - they can help grow it!!!

Get them involved early I say.....before they get all surly and teenagery on you!

My 10 year old son is very keen, he persuaded his rather overweight, snack obsessed friend to come down to our plot the other day and help plant some potatoes. As well as being a bit of an educational tool, he seemed genuinely astonished at the plots and people busy tending them, and to my suprise asked if we could let him know when we were next coming down as he wanted to come too! Boys and dirt eh!

My lot would rather not eat it. My daughter cooked with allotment potatoes yesterday, so they're getting better, but there have been times when they've gone for the same thing from Tesco's, and ignored mine.

:o Now that definitely falls under the category of "they don't know how lucky they are."
I'm staggered. Do jars of honey get treated with the same disdain?

I can remember turning my nose up at beautiful homemade bread and cakes and pining for shop-bought white sliced and Mr Kipling when I was a kid. :o What an ungrateful little beezle.

We all loved new spuds when I was kid, my Mum had 2 rules
1, You help Dad dig'em
2, You can have as many as you like, but you scrape your own.

I never forgot that XX Jeannine

Kumbi cooked with allotment potatoes last night, and agreed they tasted better, but I think that's a first. They don't eat honey, it's 'too sweet'. Hopefully they'll get over it!

Went to put the rotary-airer up in the garden yesterday. Couldnt find the steel base I concreted in last year. Turns out kids filled the hole last year so its all grassed over now. Had to buy a new washing line alternative - either that or digging up the grass....
