Title: Tree Ties ?
Post by: Spookyville on April 08, 2007, 17:25:18
Have been looking for either some of the "old fashioned" material type tree ties or the thick wire coated green plastic (which the mesh fences are made of) round the garden centres/DIY places and nowhere stocks either. The only tree ties I have come across are the new fangled rubber type (which i picked up a few) which are not big enough and cannot find heavy duty wire strong enough.

Anyone suggest anywhere that sells either of these?   (not gt any belts to spare before its suggested!  ;D)

I would have thought that wire could damage the bark?-old tights work ok!

You could use a few turns of string if it doesn't have to last too long.

thanks for the replies so far.
its a border hedge of leylandii about 10ft tall. noticed when we moved in last year that some were "anchored" to the wooden slats of the fence the are next to some were not. Due to all the gales we've had this winter some of the unanchored ones have started leaning inwards, so need something sturdy to anchor them like the rest. noticed it was a mixture of the fabric type ones and the thick wire already in use. picked up some of the rubber "chain" like ones but even the largest size i could find is not big enough for these!
