I have sown my leeks in a plant tray and have had a very good germination rate. I want to grow them on ready for transplanting when their big enough. Last year the nursery bed was in a garden but this year they are in a tray.
What I need to know is, should I prick them out? Should they go in pots or spaced evenly in trays?

Sorry PJW, I don't have the answer to your problem but I also have a leek question. I sowed my seeds into two large pots and was planning to keep them in there until approx pencil size and then plant them direct into planting holes [I have seen this method somewhere]. I have had good germination and the seedlings are about 4 to 6 inches high now. they are currently in the mini greenhouse and I am rapidly running out of space so my question is, can I move them out of the greenhouse? I have a very sheltered sunken type garden which they would just stay in until ready for planting out. :)
Just my answer to Catz here....most certainly do it. They'll grow on nicely outside in the pots until you're ready to plant. It's the way I've always done it and it's always worked. If you find the roots get tangled there's a thread talking about this - my method is to take them from the pot, shake off the soil, soak them, and the plants separate easily. Don't be worried if some roots break - they're as tough as old boots.
