Title: Lambing - Wonderful
Post by: mikey on April 05, 2007, 10:09:35
sorry if this is wrong place to post ... did look through but nowhere obvious

just had to share a lovely experience ....

Went to pick up bales of Barley Straw yesterday at friendly, local Farmer's. They in the midst of Lambing, in a huge 'maternity' Barn.

In all my years, I have never seen any animal produce 'for real' only on TV, it was wonderful.

Mum was just producing first Lamb (of twins), Farmer helping deliver, Mikey transfixed.

The wee thing coughed, spluttered and was up on it's knees almost immediately. Within 10 minutes it was 'on the move' wobbly but getting there and heading for Mum's milk bar ... how do they know where to go ???

Fascinating and very enjoyable

Mikey

As a Chap, having delivered one Son, I find it all very badly arranged for the Woman.

I know it's OK for Giraffes, who drop them on the move from 6 feet!!
