Have a poke around in the soil where the broad beans are, if you find a bean, it may have a shoot in which case you may have planted too deep so wait, if the seed is soggy it has rotted and you will have to replant.

I always have a check on any of my broad beans that are slower than the others.

One year was funny, poked around and did not find one bean, soggy or  otherwise, I emptied out the soil and nothing. I really thought I was losing it, I replanted, a couple of weeks later we were moving some boxes in the greenhouse and underneath lined up in neat rows like soldiers were my missing beans. I planted them  again and they all grew.I think the mice  had go them and put them to store.

Seeds can take some time to pop up, so give it another week or so and see what happens. Germination rates vary from plant to plant which may explain the time delay in comparison to your other seeds.

As long as you planted them according to the packet, they should work.  Also check the date on the packet, seed has a shelf life.

The temp shouldn't bother the Broad beans; I direct sowed some of mine in november and they're doing ok.

er... um... how would you feel about taking the caps lock off when you type? Caps are used when people are shouting!  ;D

Takes a lot to kill broad bean & pea seeds, so - patience!

But what I really posted about was the term Propagating Tower - what is this then?

iits a tower  witch has five leavels  like five rings on a post and each leavel holds 10 pots in it so the whole tower holds 50 plant pots that's the best way i can explain it

Your computing skills can't be that bad - you've made posts!!  People on here will be able to help you out with your computer stuff, there is a section just for that - handy when you're learning to post pics etc.
Bennetsleg - made me laugh when you posted about the shouting cos when I was reading suttongirls post I read it as though it was shouting!!!  ( i knew it wasn't intentional though suttongirl, unless you are full of angst!?!) My dad does it all the time in his texts, dont think he know how to turn it off!

With regards to your seeds, I always do what Jeannine says when I get impatient about my seeds ( which is usually about two hours after sowing!!), I had to do it with my sweet peas that were quite lazy this year, but now they're going great guns....

Welcome to A4A, by the way... :)

I think I know what you have! is it one of these? http://tinyurl.com/2xw873

I think your problem might be temperature related more so if you are are also watering!

They should not need any more water after sowing at least until after they have germinated.

If I am correct then it is quite possible your pea & bean seed may have rotted away, do as you have already been advised empty the pot and see the the state of the seed then re-sow if OK.

Carrots can be a bit funny and don't take kindly to cold soil/compost. You could always put these on the windowsill.

I always think it is best to sow directly into the ground from mid May onwards.

Have a look at the alphabetical index here http://tinyurl.com/yn57zu for further info on the things you are growing.

Because I know how impatient I am I have cheated and sprouted a lot of my seed first. I have an old beansprouter and I've thrown in my beans, peas and sweetcorn and planted out those that sprouted, throwing those that didn't. Following threads on here I also did the same with my parsnips, but I put those on damp paper towel - they are now growing away in loo rolls.

Hi Sutton Girl. Glad they're coming up at last. :D A beansprouter is a contraption for growing your own beansprouts for stir-fries etc. You can get them from gardening catalogues or online.
