Well CityChick, I thought it was about time you had some fun as well, you have done an excellent job with parcels for us now it's your turn.
No, it's not red. but it does have a red label on.
XX Jeannine
Maybe I should offer a prize to the parcel who gets home first....come on red.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;D
Go Red GO!!! :D
Anyway back to serious matters - hope everyone has a blessed Easter week-end. I am taking a long week-end so am off tomorrow as well and will be down at the lottie most days trying to catch up on all my jobs. But I will be keeping my beady eye on the Red parcel's progress..... ;D
Jitterbug

Hmmm, cheese ;)
p/s do i send you my address by email for pass the parcel dont know what to do new to this game what's ps mean
sorry i ment pm idont know what it means help
Hi Sutton Girl, the parcel swap that I have organised is already going. What happens is this.
Someone collects names for participants that want to join in,usually a fixed number I had 22 so I split it into two identical parcels, called one red and one blue. They bothe left my home at the same time.
I packed the bag with seeds from my stash.enclosed a list of the folks involved and posted it to number 1 on the list. They open it , choose what they want and replace with seeds of their own, they then send it to number 2, The last name on the list is mine so the parcel gets home.
It is a sharing, give and take sort of honour system. People see things they may not have and take a few seeds etc then add some to the pot to compensate.
CityChick has done 1,2,3,4 and 6 I think and there is another one out there 5 that Norfolklass organised.
It is good fun, no one knows who is next on the list so it is a surprise when it gets there. Hints are dropped of course. I don't know if I will send it again as it it getting late now.
I am sorry you did not see it sooner, it filled up very fast. keep your eyes on the swap spot and you will see it if it goes again.
A PM is a personal message you can send to someone that is not seen by anyone else. To sne d PM, click on the persons picture and a screen will come up, scroll to the bottom and it will give you three options ,one is send a personal message. Write your message there and it is private to you and that person. If you receive one thete is a place to answer ehich is laso private. I will send you one.
XX Jeannine
Red Parcel has arrived with me. Big thanks to Jeannine and no 1 on list Lisa. Haven't even looked at what's there, but on weight and number of packets alone it is a Weritable Corn-u-copia
Thanks again
Next stop, going for a Burton
Go red !!! Blue is going out today .XX Jeannine
Hi Jeannine and 'red parcelers' - I'm just flagging up that my computor is being collected for repairs this Wed (dont know why - OH can't access photos that he's got stored on external hard drives or something ???) so if the seeds land with me after anytime soon after Tuesday, I may not be able to post to give you an update on progress or where they're going next :( If so, I'll get them back in the post asap with a note asking the next in line to say thanks for me.
Cheers ;D
Thanks for letting us know , it is a real help knowing where it is going, hope you are back online soon XX Jeannine
I didn't make the lunchtime post today (Sat), so red parcel will go by first next post, which I suppose is Tuesday a.m. Post Office isn't open on the Bank Holiday??? Next person on list is in lovely Christchurch, ah The Ship Inn, what a (disgraceful) place!
Ahl That will give time for blue to catch up. XX Jeannine
That's ME !!! ;D ;D ;D :o :o
Will have to pay the Ship Inn a visit --- missing something am I.
Come on RED!!!
Jitterbug
Is it,are you sure XX Jeannine
tho I didn't know your a4a moniker, yes, it's Jitterbug
The Ship Inn on the High Street is probably now a Ghastly-GastroPub
Jeannine - you are a star... I will pop the seeds I owe you in the parcel when it arrives (clearly labelled for you of course LOL)
After it's Easter break, the Red Parcel is off on it's peripatetic peregrinations. Posted this am to sunny Christchurch
Thanks again
Thanks Thrasher,....she's gonna have a hissy fit when she sees this.
Red is in the lead...come on blue. XX Jeannine
Told you so !!! ;D ;D ;D
Rhubarb Thrasher : the pub is a really olde world pub - no fancy bits - in fact a bit run down and shady....but still standing.

notice you said "olde worlde" and not "olde worlde charm(e)". Kind of place where you ask for a side salad, and they give you a plate of cold chips. i'll certainly pop in in the summer

what did you have for breakfast this morning ;)
... alphabet Sphagetti
Well the Red Parcel has landed safely and what a seedy frenzy I had. What a lovely variety of seeds to choose from.
Jeannine - many thanks for all your hard work in making this such a special parcel and to everyone else who has been so generous with all their different seeds. I personally am able to try out seeds that I would not be able to buy myself and would be too scared to buy a whole packet. So keep up the good work everyone.
Next stop LB, somewhere in East India, C???? ;D
I will strap it up tightly and send it on its way tomorrow afternoon 1st class.
Jitterbug
Thanks jitterbug I will pop this on the other progress site too XX Jeannine''
Red you are way in the lead, Come on BLUE XX Jeannine
Me, me, me ;D ;D That's made my morning Jitterbug - and Jeannine :-* for organising everything!
I'm off to sort me seeds, ready for a quick turnround. I'm experimenting this year with some turnips that taste like melon, and apparently you can eat them raw - like an apple! - or grate them into salad etc, so I'll def. put some of them in cos it would be good to be able to compare notes with someone later on. Yep - I'm in seed mode now, and have to go sort stuff ... as soon as I've finished browsing A4A ;D
Oooooo, is that a turnip called oasis? I've got some of those... hope they live up to expectations :D
better than a melon that tastes like a turnip....
could whoever's got the red parcel tell me what variety the red onion seeds were, please. I took a few to try, and threw away the packet after I sowed them ???
RT
If they were the ones I started the parcel with they were Franchis Rossa Tonda
XX Jeannine
them's the ones
Thanks Jeannine

RT, that's probably what I'll be growing in the coldframe then ;D
Citychick - yep, Oasis - I got it cos it sounded intriguing so it'll be interesting to compare notes later on.
Blue are right on you tail now XX Go red Jeannine
The postman didn't bring it :'( I now want to spend the rest of the day pottering with me pots and keeping an eye out for a red delivery van, and my son wants me to take him to see the Mr Bean film :P What to do, what to do ...... (And it's a bit ironic that the film is Mr Bean ;D)
Oh, and the blue have theirs, but going out on Monday so you are almost equal XX Jeannine
Parcel waiting for me when I got home :) - and my appetite for seeds may now actually be sated (well, temporarily ;D ;D) Like a kid at the lucky dip I was ::) ;D
Took some out - put some in - so it's quite a sizeable parcel moving on (tomorrow am, hopefully) to a gal with a very appropriate surname ;D
Jeannine - many thanks for organising this (and it is very well organised) - have thoroughly enjoyed it.
That puts you back in the lead again.. come on Blues XXX Jeannine
Oooo thats me me me!!!! I'll wait for the postman before i go to the lotty!
In fact I brought my seed box in last night so will start bagging up my seeds to swap!

OO the quote doesnt mean much to me (being a bloke)- whats your surname?
Gardiner is my surname... Gardiner by name, Gardener by nature! LOL ;D Don't think i will ever get married with my obsession with growing veg - couldnt possibly lose my surname!
Think I'm still on the list too!
You aren't last OO and Cornykev you are on the list XX Jeannine
Well I still havent had any post... must go and feed the chooks now but I'll let you know if it arrives. ;D
Whoah, slow down there OliveOil - I only got it yesterday pm ;D - and it went back in the post first class this morning, so hopefully it should be with you tomorrow/ day after.
I had great fun with it - hope you do too (mind you, OH's face when he came in to a kitchen table covered in seeds, rather than dinner, suggests too many pass-the-parcels might spell the end of marriage for me too ;D ;D)
Fingers crossed for tomorrow - at work on thursday :'( I wish i didnt have to!
ooo the list is getting shorter ;D tee hee ...
... hope you all had a great Easter break ... think I have some TLC to administer after a few days away ... and what a chance to repalce some that croaked !! :D
Jeannine,

XX Jeannine
PARCEL OLYMPICS UPDATE....You are in the lead..just XX
Go reds ;D
OO wheres the hint with the next destination
the suspense is killing me ....................
Sorry for not updating you - parcel posted yesterday... put some HSL seeds in for you all to make it more interesting... not that its not interesting enough!!! Wild Peruvian Cucumber???? LOL
Should be with someone who likes sailing next ;D
HSL = Heritage Seed Library a part of the Henry Doubleday Research Association (HDRA) now calling itself 'Garden Organic'
The HSL saves veggie seeds which are under threat e.g. being withdrawn from commercial catalogues, to protect the genetic varieties for the future.
I have been a member for some years, money well spent and, in my view, a good cause. As a member of HSL you are entitled to 6 packets of seed free each year, but if there is something in particular you are looking for they are very helpful in locating a source. They are also very helpful in answering growing/cropping questions .... in a mini RHS sort of way
http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/
;D
You are still just in the lead XXX Jeannine
Has it arrived yet??? ;D
Got it!! ;D

I have to admit that, having had my turn, I'm now missing the anticipation and am also getting seed envy over all the seeds going in that I'm going to miss ;D ;D You can't keep some people happy :)
Patience Glow, they are not going to tell you,it is all part of the fun, believe and it will come. XX Jeannine
Im being egged on here by two kids eager to plant things that are "cool" cant understand why they dont think onions are cool :-\
Tomorrow the red parcel will be going slightly north of Essex, to a male monarch with a girls name (?!?!?!?). Never been very good at these cryptic things. ;D
Great fun, taken some out, put some in. ;D
Emma Jane - with more seeds in the greenhouse than at the Eden project!
Oh very good clue, it took me a while and I have the ruddy list!!!! Oh and you are gaining ground ,still in the lead.XXX Jeannine
Now you have just a wee bit of ground, Blues are catching you XXX Jeannine
cmon reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.. no need to hurry savour the moment :D
You do realise that we must appear to outsiders to be a very sad group of individuals - coaxing a bag of seeds along..... tsk! tsk! Seed porn indeed :-[
You should have seen me on the lottie on Sunday when I discovered my first broad beans. I gently stood fondling it and even called my neighbour over to have a look and feel and need I say more when I saw my first little tomatoe on my Sungold! Well my joy knew no bounds.... :-[
Jitterbug
CMON REDS!!!! ;D ;D ;D
does that make you a Poodaphilia ???
Every now and then i accidentally mention my 'allotment internet' friends at work and get seriously funny looks... i have to contain myself to not even mention you or Seed swaps for that matter. :o
Ok, this is the scoop, you go into work and tell them that you..
regularly spend hours in a commune where you go potty in you compost bin,
weekends you can be seen climbing out of rubbish skips as you go looking for gear.
Your favorite site is Freecycle were you will transport anything that you can
tied to the top of your car
Your regular pen pal is a parcel full of cabbages and green beans
Take your seed stash to work
Try and get a sensible debate going about the different values of cow shite versus horse shite
Tell them that you are meeting a crowd of like minded individuals and ask them to join us
Ask them there educated opinion of late blight, blossom end rot,or bean weevils'
Enquire as to wether they drown their slugs in beer or tempt them to eat poison, then admit you do midnight searches with a box of salt and a torch
Oh and you must give them an honest feeling about your first wee seedling popping through...don't hold back on the squeals.
See what funny looks you get then sweetie.
XX Jeannine
ROTFLMAO :D :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D.
Tricia
