The only change that I can see is that you have to complete a 4 page form asking 20+ questions such as what drugs you're on & how many units you drink a week. So they're only going to accept the clean livers in future (not the offal ones)??
I said that I thought it more important to know how much she drank since she was operating on me!!

Great rant, Tim. My biggest problem re dentists is that fact that every time we enrol with an NHS one, they turn private within a year. Now we can't find an NHS one at all. Must be one of the 2,000 as announced on the news today. Have to say, never been asked about the state of my liver: just as well, really!

Ah, so it's not just me that it keeps happening to!
Of course, at £28 for a check-up, that's £1.40 a prod for each of my remaining teeth.

I went to the dentist yesterday...after finding an NHS one, I haven't been for 10+ years...(My hero is Shane McGowan from the pouges!)
He was telling me my teeth were OK, but need a couple of fillings..then announces that the NHS wont cover me till my teeth are in good shape.
So £42 later and 2 more appointments I MAY be able to go NHS

I've said it before, but here's a reminder......in South B'ham I've found a NHS practice of 3 dentists.....with open lists 8)

I am sitting here with part of a back tooth missing (been like that for over a week!)
5, yes 5 crowns required, and deffo a good clean needed.....but our dentist went private last year and at the mo just cannot afford to go.
OH went in pain, and they pulled his tooth out, cost him £75.00 for what was minutes work! :o :o I said I could have done it free with the pliers! ;) ;)
This NHS dentistry needs to be sorted!!
We have an NHS dentist and have just had a reminder from them to make our 6 monthly appointment. I don't mind the dentist at all - have never been frightened of them and am bringing the urchins up the same way. Ava however is a complete weed so he has nothing to do with the childrens detal visits.
I had to fill in new forms for them both last visit and was told off for not mentioning sooner that both had to briefly use inhalers when they were very small. Bad mum see. :-\

our dentists went private, we got the kind option of going for a special appt, then being charged a fortune for whatever was wrong, then going on their special private programme of about 25 a month each, so we shopped around and found an nhs one (the same one that does my anaesthetic tx as i am a HEEEEEUUUWGE wuss! (stems from a root drilling without proper numbing at twenty two- its not the needles, its the drills!). they took us on, but suddenly dh is getting recommended for hygienist appts he doesn't need- at forty pound a pop- as everything is forty pounds! and this clinic, which has always taken me as a sleep patient, suddenly felt it appropriate to drill on me awake without more than a minute or two's warning- they did regret it- i behaved my best but they were shaking in their boots i was that stressed i thinnk the dentist expected a heart attack and her fingures chopped off.
i find it just so wrong. i mean, our teeth are a huge part of our health- why is it getting them healthy/ keeping them healthy is so expensive? grrrr.

I have an NHS dentist , I've been with for 26yrs.
The dentists change every so often but the practice is the same.
I love going as this is the only time I get time to myself ;D ;D ;D
and the young fella is gorgeous ;D(I know too young for me :P)
but I can look ;D ;D ;D (I'm married, not blind) ::) ;D ;D ;D
