Went to the plot last night to make the most of daylight hours, and to my astonishment the strawberries are already in flower! :o
Are anyone elses? Or am I being silly?

the ones under cover are showing new growth but no flowers..yet :)
I have a few little alpine ones by the front door that seem to flower all year round.
don't know about proper eating type ones though :-\
I guess if there are pollinating insects about and you don't get any more frosts, you should have very early strawbs!
Yes, mine (under protection) are also in flower but then I am in the sunny south! ;D

I transfered them to the plot last autumn as they were bent on taking over my small garden.
I am not sure of the variety as I bought them at a boot fair a couple of years ago.
The runners that they produce are prolific, went from a couple of plants to about 20 the next year. At one point thought I had pulled them all out of the garden and put a few in tubs to stop the spreading. But it seemed that I didn't get all of them and ended up with a take over again last year, so they have been rehomed to the plot.
Wasn't a bad problem really as the fruit tastes quite good!
Some of mine are in flower, again in the sunny south, but the ones that are flowering are a few left around the edges of where I had an enormous bonfire to burn off an entire strawberry bed, and these few got missed, so I'd guess that heat plays a part.
the ones in the greenhouse (unheated) have been in flower for a few weeks. Fruit does not appear to be forming, guess no polinators are getting in there at the moment as the door is closed most of the time.
The outdoor ones are growing really fast. I got one of those strawberry planters that are like a tower for Christmas and planted it up about a month ago, really pleased with it.
