Title: Chilli Beef.

Help, does anyone please have the recipe for chili with dark chocolate added.

There was a good recipe in Style a while ago, but I binned it!

Surely just a matter of adding 2-3 squares of 80% choc (shaved) at the end of cooking?

You could try looking here, put in Chilli Mole. (the mole bit means it has chocolate in it, in case you didn't know :-\)
I had NO IDEA there were so many different chilli recipes, I have my one tried and trusted one that I have used for years!

Nigella's tip is to add a tablespoon [this is a large recipe that feeds 8 to 10, so you could alter amount depending on quantity] of cocoa powder :)

I grew these Mulatos last year - meant to go in mole sauces, but sadly they got caught by frost just as they ripened and didn't dry properly. Trying again this year....have a few spare seeds.

I think you're right Tim. I'll know better next time :)

I was fooled because the outsides went wrinkled and black like they should - but the insides were full of mould!

In a large pan (about 12" x 8") we add 1 square of dark chocolate.  It doesn't want to be too sweet, but you do want to add the extra depth & complexity of flavour that the chocolate brings.

This is unusual but nice, comes from an old book by Josceline Dimbleby.  You can use a few squares of dark choccy in place of the cocoa.

As Tim says, it's difficult to give a quantity for the chillies.

1 ½ lbs stewing beef, cubed
1 pint beef stock
3 oz chopped walnut pieces
1 large onion, chopped
3 â€" 4 chillies, or to taste
1 or 2 cloves garlic
1 oz raisins
4 â€" 5 cloves
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tin tomatoes
I bunch of spring onions, chopped

Preheat oven to Gas 2/150C/300F. 

Brown and seal the beef in some oil.

Put the walnut, onion, chillies, garlic, raisins, cloves and tomatoes in a food processor and whiz till smooth.

Heat some oil in an ovenproof casserole, stir in the cinnamon  and add the above mixture.  Cook, stirring, for 5 mins.  Stir in the stock and add salt to taste.  Add the beef with its juices, and stir in the cocoa powder (or chocolate). 

Bring to simmering point and cook in the oven for about 3 hours until the beef is tender and the sauce reduced and thickened.  Serve with the chopped spring onions sprinkled over.

Is it not possible to get the Mexican chocolate that is used  for cooking savoury dishes here in UK ? It is different to plain chocolate. XX Jeannine
