I have an alomost endless supply of large sheets of blue polythene.
Is it ok to use BLUE ploythene to make polytunnels / cloches or will it be restricitive to the light?
Thanks
K
Not only does it cut off a great deal of light, but a lot of it (maybe all? I'm not sure) disintegrates in sunlight, and you get nasty little bits scattered all over the garden.
Plants absorb blue and red light for use in photosynthesis. Green light is reflected because the plants cannot use it to make food. If you put a blue polythene sheet over your plants, it could act as a filter and block the useful blue light!
Excellent - I remembr my A level Biology now!!
Thanks
