Title: plug plants have arrived...
Post by: bennettsleg on March 23, 2007, 23:09:14
the brassica plug plants have arrived and I'm wondering: do I plant them out with some fleece over the top or hang fire until the weather improves?

They may be hardy, but as they're being transplanted I worry that they'll take.

Hi I got mine early this week and the box they came in was damaged so I e mailed and complained that the box did not have all the contents and this morning I got a loverly letter and my whole order replaced  ;D  ;D

I have planted mine up into pots and put them in a cold frame to keep until I decided where I am going to put them

Now have 16 cauli   16 broccoli    16 cabbage  x 2  ???

and only half an allotment  ???

I did that with mine last year. I potted them in long planters temporarily - they absolutely thrived there, and were really robust by the time I planted them out on the plot.

Hi,

Where did you get your plugs from?

Thanks,

Yesterday was such panty, miserable weather that it was debatable if the plants would last anywhere other than indoors.

Today is glorious, so they are in.  They're also sheltered by a good 6" if mulch with another 4" of straw all around them and they are also covered with fleece. We're away next weekend (roll on the long summer evenings for additional plot time!) and I was worried that they'd pop-orf if they weren't put in the ground for a fortnight.

got them from www.organicplants.co.uk
5 per bag, lovely healthy little specimens. Very impressed and hoping they'll stay that way...! ::) ;D ;D
