You have £50 to spend however you want, you would buy .............................
Please feel free to help me spend my birthday cash!
;D
A thermostatically controlled propagator!
That would all depend upon what you already have so then require to purchase.
Do you want to blow (spend) on one item or are you a bit thrifty and want all you can get for your money?
If you have not got one I am with Tee Gee will be on this years xmas list.
Gary

Okay then, send it to me and I'll deal with it...
(sigh) sometimes I'm just too nice for my own good...
tough job Amazin, dirty work! I admire your generosity ! ;D
my one heated (but not thermostatically controlled) propagator has been going into overdrive the last couple of months. It hasn't been empty and has produced loads of babies with few losses so what would be the benefit of a TC variety ? I am still of course only filling the garden so haven't yet gone into mass production ... yet ! Once I've got the lottie, I will probably need double the space (at least), so I'll definitely put it on the short-list.
You're definitely thinking on my wavelength though Tee Gee (and gary). I could spend it all on poo of course, but that would be boring and I've always got to buy that anyway, so was thinking of a "can't live without gadget" that I wouldn't feel guilty about blowing the lot on, or one or two ! lol
A couple of things came to mind ........... autovents (only problem I can see is my unpredictable wind :P). One gale that hasn't been forecast and woops ! there goes a vent ! Can you "lock them down" in hurricane weather to prevent carnage ?
A Rotasieve (advertised in the fall out mag from this month's GW). d**n handy tool, or complete waste of space and energy ?
Rootrainers seem like an excellent idea but 2 packs at £30 seems excessive. Are they worth it ?
Or is this my once in a season opportunity to buy some Wondermesh ? And then there's the Mattock - seems like a handy little tool ! (you can tell i've read this catalogue from cover to cover can't you).
and of course, if I ever get this lottie, I haven't got a wheelbarrow !!!! :o But then that would be a necessity rather than a luxury, so I'd be able to find the cash for that anyway.
Oh decisions decisions.
;D
Or you could be like me and keep on thinking that there must be something worth saving it for.......still got £40s worth of vouchers from 18 months ago, just can't bring myself to 'waste' them ;D
A thought about the autovent Mrs KP, if it's blowing a hoolie, would it not be closed due to cold temperatures anyway? Really good thing to have anyhow. ;)
nah, never gonna last that long EJ !!!! lol
I read somewhere that the wind (if strong enough) could catch under the vent and flip the whole thing up as an autovent wouldn't be locked down ! The vent facing the wind would be particularly vulnerable, but I'm putting in an extra vent at the weekend and could auto that one as it's by a hedge and more protected.
At times this week, the temp has reach 110o so one would be incredibly handy ! :P
that leaves me £35 ish ! :P
personally i would blow it all on a nice tattoo and a nose piercing ;D
oh you meant for the garden?
er...........................
(nips back to check th other posts)
a mattock! yep good idea, always good to have something that can be used as stress management to hand :P
I had my nose , eyebrow , and my tonge peirced in my wilder days ;D
29 though now and diden't want to scare my kids.
Always wanted my lip done though so i'd spend it on that. ;)
a really nice deckchair !
Emaggie ..check' expire 'date on voucher ! been caught out on that one before
I would have an eBay browse. Or choose one more expensive item I wouldn't usually have the money for (such as the loppers I bought with my £50 xmas money!) What about new wellies, a chair, a sunhat (thinking ahead), a trug or something like that? Non tool?
Tina.
I have decided !!!!!
TWO vent auto openers ! The one I've found for the "windy side" is £30 ish anyway (more springs), and the less robust one about £20 so even my maths makes that about right.
Am really thinking about the mattock though as it could double up as a handy gardening implement and (as bunjies says) a stress reliever !
Thanks for the input though peeps, always good to pick at other peoples brains and see what goes on inside them. lol
;D
Mrs KP we have automatic vent openers , they are very efficient. If the wind is that strong it is very unlikely that the temp would be high enough to open the vent, so chances of them being blown away are slim :D
what brand have you got nippie ! now looking for best brands ;D
You could take Cornykev out for a slap up meal. ;D ;D ;D
woulda done son, but as you can see, all spent now !
if you're not fast, you're last !
;D
What about a dehydrator to preserve some of your produce later on?
It would save freezer space and you having to give the excess away!
oh wow, they look interesting.
I can see another list starting !
;D
Hey, KP,
I got a mattock type tool last year - on one side it's got the flat 'blade', like the normal ones, but the other side is a three-pronged fork - it's brilliant!
In fact, I got four of 'em : one for the garden, one for the lottie, and one each for two of my lottie neighbours. I'll let you know - on the new board, of course - when they come in stock again at... the 99p shop! ;D
i'm gonna wrap the thing round the upstairs neighbours neck in a mo if they don't stop laying carpets !!!! (at least that's what i think they're doing). my chandelier is about to come crashing down !!!!!
oh please do keep me informed. anger management on the cheap !!!
;D
Go for it girl, tell 'em to fork off - you Azada NUFF!
which one of us has been at the beer ??? :o 8)
Both of me! :P ;D

Sorry to be so long coming back with the info Mrs KP.
We have an Elite greenhouse and an Elite auto vent. It works really well and we stand and watch for it to open when the weather is warm :D
no worries nippie. I won't be ordering it/them for a couple of days yet and still have my pen and paper out.
I'm thinking of Bayliss's MK7 standard for the non windy side, and the MK7 triple spring for the windy side. would i need two ?? it does get hot in there, up to 90o again today with the sun out and that was with the two vents and new louvres (didn't fit btw, got to bodge the bottom with a bit of twin wall polycarb) and the door open.
i think i need two !
things keep frying already, but surely it's too early to get the shading out ?
a big bee was trapped in there for a while today, but got out through the gap under the louvres !! maybe it's part of the design lol
