THIS IS A CAUSE WELL WORTH SUPPORTING; PLEASE VOTE IT TAKES ONLY ONE PUSH OF A BUTTON FOR A WHOLE DAY OFF WORK!! We get less public holidays than the rest of our eurpoean counterparts.
We have a real chance to make April 23rd, our nations day a bank holiday. If you are in agreement then please vote and also please send this to as many people as possible as it's all about numbers.
There is a chance the public can make St Georges Day a public holiday (After this year) Click on the link below to vote, the site needs at least 500,000 votes for the government to take it seriously and give us another holiday, and I know you are up for that!

forward on to your mates...
I'm voting, not for a day off, but to promote the fact that the English also have a celebration day.
In Northern ireland they get St pats off - but they loose one of the other bank holidays that the rest of the UK gets (not sure how many public holidays the get in the free state). So we'd have to loose a bank holiday too - or else it would be unfair.
Even though I am Welsh have voted as work for a British Firm !!!!

Why isn't Wales represented on the Union Flag? England, Scotland and Ireland are on there.
It was politically insignificant. I'm all for extra holidays, but I'm not too keen on celebrating a saint who probably never existed!

I have often wondered the same thing.
Maybe they missed the vote by going off for a leek.

The Welsh flag has never been part of the union flag
because Wales has always been a Principality (hence the Prince of Wales)
of England and not a seperate country as such.
Not what the Welsh people want to hear but never the less true.
sorry!!
Alan
Thanks for those explanations on the Welsh flag bit, I was always curious too :)
As an American I was astounded at the number of days off you get in the UK! (standard in the US is still 2 weeks (10 days) plus national holidays) And very pleased I must say. Now I'm self-employed and get no days off ;). Ah well... I'll give it a vote anyway...
Tina.
