Title: Capers
Post by: Mrs Ava on May 11, 2004, 23:23:39
A note to Stephan really.......did you sow your capers yet after they have spent ages and ages in the fridge?  Mine went in about 2 weeks ago but still no show.  Wonder how long before they should germinate....wonder if they will germinate....could have sworn they were sprouting in the jar in the fridge, but I fear that was wishfull thinking!

All I can tell you BB is, I received them as a gift from my sis who traded seeds with a fella in Israel.  I think it was Tenuse, or it may have been Mystic who found some info on them where it recommended the seeds be soaked for a couple of days, then wrapped in wet tissue, put inside a jar and left in the fridge for 3 months.  Well, that is exactly what I did, and I planted the seeds out a couple of weeks ago.  I will be going down the greenhouse after lunch and will examine the tray closely to see if anything has sprouted yet.  As I understand it, they are slow growing and make a tree kinda like an olive tree.  I will give anything a go me!  :o
