Title: Okra
Post by: cleo on March 18, 2007, 16:36:40
The bane of my life ;)-well I was listening to GQT on the way home and even Mr Flowerdew admitted to only getting a very small crop-so I think all of us who try if only to get a few fruit should not feel too bad

Always the optimist I'm giving it another go this year Steph....even six fruits will be a success for me....actually,  even four....

I'm going to give them a go this year, I had some seedlings going, but they got too leggy and started falling over, so they went in the compost.
I'll start them again in a few weeks when the weather is better.

For the number of times that you eat Okra, like Salsify or Seakale, is it really worth al the aggro?

Never even got to the flower stage with Okra, but I like Salsify Tim... have half an allotment of the stuff, well it self set from some that went to seed on an under-utilised plot next to mine!

I tried growing Okra several times with no success. I'm trying this year again though, I love Okra and would eat it every day if I could.

Every time I tried, as soon as I planted out they stopped growing. They definitely need heat but I don't have a greenhouse!

Hope somebody from A4A have a success this year. :)
