OH told me I 'm supposed to get an azada!!! Unfortunately they are out of stock so I'll have to wait a bit longer, but never mind- something to look forward to, and an excuse not to do any digging until I get it!

Last week I emailed my lot with instructions "No flowers. No plants. And please, please NO trees". How was I to know they'd already ordered something? :-[...still they were able to cancel....

But my request of a work of art drawn by the grand's underway I believe. 8) Looking forward to it :)

awwww... I had to give the kids a tenner to 'make me something'... I think they are making chocolates as my 9yo made some at cubs and the dog ate them an hour later!  That will teach him not to hide them on his bedroom floor!

My six year old daughter Grace has been so excited about MD, and has been 'secretly'  making things for me.  Unfortunately she has caught a really nasty bug that is doing the rounds, and we have been battling to keep her temperature down for two days (and one very long night).

My ideal MD would be that she is better, I don't like it when she is quiet and subdued, normally she never stops chattering.  I'm hoping for a noisy Mothers Day.

The strapping sapling is ...well... a bit strapped at the moment, so I'm getting a day's work in the garden this weekend and a day's work at the lottie next weekend. Doncha just love it when offspring are resourceful?

;D ;D ;D

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums, grand mums, step mums, mums-in-law...... ;D

Mine aren't up yet but eldest daughter has bought me "vegetable seeds for Africa" from Save the Children which I think is a great idea....and far preferable to them spending all their pocket money on over-priced flowers.  Youngest daughter has got me a guide-book to Paris that I chose (and paid for!) as I'm off there for the first time next month.

Have a great day all.

I tend to get my mum a special plant for mothers day. I think its a much nicer and lasting gift than flowers or chocs. Most of these have done well over the years and are often at their best on subsequent mothers days. For instance one year i got her a Camelia, which took its time to get going but now this year has flowered its best yet. Last year I did a pot with a varegated carex, a purple leaved euphorbia (with green flowers) and tete a tete daffys. The euphorbia wasnt in flower for the day itself but the pot looked really nice from day one and still looks good now. In fact the euphorbia has come into flower just in time for this years mothers day.

This year i went for a dwarf evergreen azalea, potted up in a nice glazed pot on its own, a nice healthy plant with plenty of buds. Mum was delighted to receive it. I rarely get these things wrong! ;D

Ah, the perfect presant for a bath loving gardener!. I love Lush stuff, even if it is a bit (lot) pricey.

I had a bag of bulbs off my daughter. Nothing off the three boys, but then again, I never do. I dont mind, as it is more their absent mindedness than anything else. I think it would induce a heart attack if they remembered any event other than Christmas, and that's only because there is such a big build up to it in the shops.

Happy Mothers Day!

cj :)

Daughter & son visited with all three grandsons - two aged 8 and one almost 7. (Think I've gone deaf now they've all gone  ;)!) First thing I got was a big 'group hug' from the lads - more like a flying tackle, really - just as well I was sitting down or I'd have been flattened! Pressie from boys was a great big box of scented candles - LOVE THEM! - and the lads really enjoy choosing them. They were so thrilled this year to have found one called 'Greenhouse'!  ??? Estee Lauder 'Beautiful' (who, me? ::)!!!) perfume from daughter and two packets of ginger nuts from son. My fave snack - and he always polishes mine off when he pops in for a cuppa! (He's not mean - moving house and strapped for cash at the mo!) Lucky me! Hope all you other mum's have a lovely day, too.  :-*

Door bell went at 8.30 this morning when we were having a rare and much needed lie in.  Thought it was the police who are due to come back to see son no 1 who was beaten up by some yobs on his way home last night.  He wasn't up to giving a statement last night (visit to hospital took priority) so they said they'd come back.  Anyway, threw some clothes on, found keys to unlock door and there was a lady holding out a beautiful hand tied bouquet of flowers and card saying 'To Mum with love from T and B'. :)

Jill I do hope your son is feeling a bit better. How worrying for you. Hope they have got the yobs.
Young Lorna gave me card and roses, also put money in my card to buy my 100litres of  vermiculite.
Middle daughter Alyson has rung to say she will be over tomorrow. My television needs repairing (keep getting blue haze across wcreen) I am reluctan to dump it as it is a combi. Anyhow she has suggested that she and her OH pay or part pay (depending on cost) of repairs.
Haven't seen eldest daughter yet.
John & D.I.L. Have also been in.
Evening meal at 7pm with Lorna and Grandson.
Great being a Mum isn't it? Even without pressies I always feel so lucky that I usually see at least 2 of the family every day.
Lorna.

A phone call from the daughter at uni, a bunch of flowers from the youngest and the middle one , 18 yr old son managed a card - told him that he needn't buy a pressie, instead to help me go and get a load of compost form Wickes as he's now so strong
As for the day - spent the morning on the lottie, then home to cook scones and a sponge and entertained the mother and mother in law to a full afternoon tea.
This evening - feet up reading the Sunday papers with a glass of wine and cheese and biscuits.
One of the best Mother's days for a while!
