WHEN I get the lottie, I am resigned to buying the OH a lap top so he can sit a bit, dig a bit etc etc.

The lottie is also within a 5 min walk of a cricket pitch, so the idea is that he can help me dig in the mornings, and then go and have a pint and watch the cricket in the afternoon.

THEN i'll resort to withdrawing Sky Sports and other services if he doesn't comply with my reasonable requests!

;D

Just do it yerself and he can get lost, girls are getting so much praise in our plot from the old blokes and its something that you can really feel proud of doing yourself. I'm a man and I'm delighted with all the young and not young women that are arriving in the plot................ Obviously, I'm only human  ;D

Why is it always men V women these days, we're just the same apart from a couple of bits.

men don't look quite so nice in short shorts and vests though ! (oh forgot, you're in glasgow too, the short shorts only come out for a couple of weeks in July, if we're you're lucky!)

MrsKP, you made me laugh. We have a lottie fella who wears shorts plus knee length  woollie socks  that fall down like leg warmers, then he has old fashioned sand shoes, then he has his white vest and on top of that he wears a fair isle knitted sleevless jumper, and he pops a tweed fat cap on his head.

I swear this is the truth.

I thought about the picture thing but I couldn't put him on the net without his permission and I would be too scared to ask as we would be making fun of him.I am making fun too but he is anonymous just now.He is actually a very sweet gent and would not want to hurt his feelings  Jeannine XX

I have also got the lottie bug,

Am cross today as OH is at work and am not brave enough to take all 4 kids down! So will have to wait until tomorrow to get back to the digging. grrrr.
The sooner I have the beds dug, the sooner the fun stuff can be done :D

Well considering I just found out this morning that my OH was with another woman last week... it all makes sense why he got me the rotavator... normal guys just buy flowers right??? but obviously major guilts so went straight in for the rotavator.

Would be happy if he never stepped foot on my plot again! not that he goes down often anyway.  Old timers down my allotment think I'm doing great for a young girlie on my own... makes me feel like SHE' RA - remember her LOL???

my OH says he doesn't like hard work, but as soon as the lottie is mentioned, he finds a dozen or so washers to mend at the workshops!!!
says he'll be down later, but then feigns a bad back and the need for  a hot bath.
still it doesn't make me any less excited, at least i know nothing important will be dug up, or just as bad.....trampled on!

How to get people interested in helping at the lottie?

Feed 'em absolutely NO fruit & veg for a fortnight. That's no soup, no stir-fries, no rice, no roasties with Sunday dinner, and NO CHIPS!

Oh...and no crumble!

;D ;D ;D

My other half will do anything to get out of going to the lottie!  We have struck a perfect deal though...... as I am at the school all day, I go over at about 3.30 and he gets to cook the dinner!  I still get annoyed that I am doing all the hard work on my own but then once I am there, I love the peace and quiet being on my own (4 kids at home with hubbie!)  and I hate cooking!   8)

Plus, the old boys over there call me 'the Girlie' and there are not many places this happens these days, I'm 42 this year! ;D

My OH is still a girlie on the Lotties, it made a bit of sense when we started 15 years ago and there were next to no women on the site, she is now 45++ .....
