I am wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to make a polytunnel.
I am not a fan of spending money on my allotment. Does anyone know of any material I could use for the structure. It doesn't have to be the traditional shape.
Corrugated PVC or polycarbonate Roofing from B&Q are great. A few sheets should be enough between a couple of rows of brick. Or two old wood frame windows screwed together in an inverted V shape.
LIDL were doing plastic cloches for£2.99 a couple of weeks ago they might have some left.
if its a full size polytunnel you are after do a search on this forum there are links to a DIY version. - somewhere
The frame can be easily made from scaffolding poles and water pipe. and the finished articles look quite good. Ive seen a couple built and if anything they look more sturdy than the bought versions

Hi Luna
Try this link for a full size poly or try the wiki for details on how to make hoops for a cloche

I think the polythene cover will be the most expensive part of the project. I am planning on doing a smallish one about 10x8
thats the link well found Sharon
and i can confirm they work
Sharon, Thanks for that link. It was the sort of thing I was thinking of.

I would like to do this, but with the kids near me it would be better built out of concrete. I dont think a concrete one would work the same though.
