Title: Bartering with the Virgin media big boys
Post by: kt. on March 09, 2007, 20:52:10
I was rather annoyed with virgin media earlier today, not a happy bunny at all. When it was NTL I was on a customer deal with a discount bill of £60 per month down from £85 for another 3 months.

Got my first bill from the new company that didnt honour any discount previously agreed. Bill was £80! Phoned to cancel all services but struck a compromise after 54 minutes on hold! In my favour of course.

Got my bill reduced to £48, Stayed with the full cable TV package including movies, less sports. Free evening weekend calls, Broadband increased from 2 to 4MB, and telephone line rental. All for £51.50 per month - permenantly! Not a temporary deal but a lifetime deal. Hows that for bartering. ;)  Now I am a happy bunny.

Good for you - amazing what you can achieve if you just ask.  We don't seem to be on any sort of deal & pay a massive amount each month - maybe we should give them a ring.

Interesting... I'll have to keep an eye on my bills too. I'm on a 12 month £5.50/mo. fixed phone bill. Seemed to be okay with my last bill which was branded Virgin. My approach: I keep threatening to just get disconnected.

Tina.

I have just phoned my brother who has the same services with dfferent companies. He pays £100 per month. He can get Virgin media and is gonna give them a call.

Price comparison on the internet puts sky £8 cheaper. But you pay BT the line rental on top. Othe point of note is that after 12 months - sky charge for service calls and repairs. With virgin media Everything is included for life - free repairs, free replacement set top boxes and remotes, free replacement modems the whole deal.

i was promised by a telewest rep in dec that i could add on a phone for a extra £5 a month i signed a contract for this price for a year but they are charging full price  said they couldn,t help on the phone i had to complain by mail which i did
they phoned me and apologized and said they would refund of coarse it hasn,t happened. i know i mustn,t give in but i keep putting off writing again  do you think i am entitled to scrap my side of this contract as they havn,t kept to it ?
and would BT have me back without costing the earth? imust admit i like a quiet life and kicking up a fuss and making changes stresses me out OH is not well so it,s up to me  sorry for going on

marg, in my experience telewest are one of the worst for this sort of behaviour.  Write again, giving them a deadline by which you expect to have received your refund, and chase them if necessary to make sure it happens.  Once you get your money i'd be inclined to swap to a better provider as soon as you can.  And please don't worry about it, there's no point in making yourself ill with worry about it, esp if your OH isn't well right now too.  Good luck & keep your chin up x
