After months of hard work in all weathers my efforts have been rewarded by having all my 1st and 2nd earlies pulled up by some mindless tw*ts, had enough, really bloody depressed now.
Chaz
dont give up chaz i have had lots of mindless crap done to mine lately but im refusing to give up and ive been getting the local peeps to look out for me and im sodding well not gona let some mindless morons spoil it for me and neither should u hang on in there and try and protect ur plot in any way u can never mind what the council say u can and cant do
Oh Chaz that is truly awful. Nothing I can say, I'm disgusted. Gavin and now you.
Oh Chaz
My heart goes out to you! However, I second flower's post. Take encouragement from Jethro and Gavin, who also have had their lotties devastated. You can do it and it WILL be worth it.
Kate xx
Words fail, wish I could do something other than shake my head at the behaviour of "human" beings. Dont give up, don't let them win.
You, Gavin, et al - I just wish my air-rifle was legal punishment. = Tim
AAAAWWW Chaz after all your hard work. All i can say is what the others have dont let 'em beat you. Will a cyber hug from a little old lady cheer you up?????
In reply to Poppy's remarks, its a deceptive camera angle...there are 6 rows of spuds (over 100 plants) if you look at the ridge on the extreme left the plants look ok but in fact those are the tops of the plants neatly pulled up and laid to the side of the ridge, no more than half a dozen plants were left untouched, I'm beginning to suspect that the damage was done by someone who holds a key as we have been working hard to secure the site...its not impossible for someone to climb in but they would need to negotiate a 7ft fence topped with barbed wire covered in thick black grease.
Yup - know just how you feel, Chaz. Gut-wrenching. But don't let the b*st*rds win?
What do the other plot holders say about the site?
If it's not that regular, it may be a fact of life that you can decide to put up with - like slugs but a lot worse. You'll lose some crop --- but get a lot of pleasure from the rest.
If it is regular or systematic - do what's necessary for the rest of this season, but find yourself another plot on a better site?
Commiserations - Gavin
In both the next village and the nearest town, there are stocks!
Reinstitute them is what I say :D
Aw Chaz, so sorry, after all your hard work too, but dont give in to the morons. Stocks are not good enough for the yobs of society today. Pity we didnt have an island just off shore like Alcatraz, tip the whole lot of them on there and let them kill each other. They don't deserve to be call 'man'. One day they will all get their comuppance, have no fear.
Chaz, everyone has said it before me, but we all think the same, so sorry, such a waste, such stupid mindless, selfish, immature, senseless behaviour! I don't get it at all, I don't understand how their tiny minds work! No respect, not a good bone in their entire bodies! >:( Don't jack it in Chaz.
Hi Chaz - we were obviously typing away at the same time, so I missed the bit about having a 7 foot fence!
Worth checking that fence? It's beneath the dignity of some of our local yobs to walk through the four-foot gaping gaps in our fence; they feel the need to cut a fresh hole with bolt cutters!
But the key - if it's a council allotment, the same key probably opens every council padlock in the area; at least, that's the case in Leeds. Of which any number of people will have copies - official and unofficial.
All best - Gavin
Its this sort of sight that puts me right off having an allotment - much as i'd love one. I dont think I could bear to have the fruits of my labours ruined in such a way.
At least my back garden where i have my veg plot is secure behind a tall wooden gate, and few have access. Downside of course is that others cannot see my work.
This said you have my sympathies and support.
Like others have said - DONT GIVE UP! no matter how bad things get. :) :) :)
sorry to hear your bad news there Chaz, but don't let them make you give up. make sure you tell as many plotholders as possible - no-one would want that to happen to them and you may collectively become better at spotting people who shouldn't be there...
If it's pure vansadlism then no doubt many other plot holders have been subject to the same treatment. How about asking round and getting together with them and see what can be done as a group to counter it. Are there any houses over-looking the land? If so, maybe one of the house-holders has a video cam and would be prepared to keep a watch? If it's supposes to be a locked site, then there must be a time of day for locking up. Anyone in there after that time is up to no good and a call to the cops might just catch the b***ers red handed?
