Hello there,
tis the mother in laws birthday this weekend and am looking for inspiration !! She has 3 hens, not had them long, they are laying and she is relatively new to keeping chooks, any ideas re books or 'must haves' for hen keeping would be much appreciated
thanks :)
Matalan was selling the Encyclopedia of chickens for a fiver in Grantham.
I also saw the most wonderful teapot and mugs. sugarbowl, milk jug etc at a local garden centre... and my local chicken place sells aprons and teatowels...
As a chicken keeper i really want the teapot and mugs etc!
Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance by Martin Gudron £6:29 on Amazon. Very funny & I actually learned more about backyard hens from this than from more learned tomes = the first 'proper' chicken book I read advised culling your chickens at the end of their first year as they would no longer be economic!
Storeys Guide to Raising Chickens (care, feeding , facilities) by Gail Damerow. £8.57 from WH Smiths - free delivery.
thanks all, she loves reading so will enjoy a book - also drinks lots of tea OliveOil ! ;D
