I know this matter has been raised before and I thought I would raise it again.
Many of the questions asked on this forum and other forums in A4A are often related to where one lives.
Regularly I answer question and my first impulse is 'where do you live and or grow your stuff?'
If I knew this; I think me personally, and a few others would be able to make a more calculated reply to your questions.
All I ask for is your nearest town to be indicated under your avatar
What do you think?
done
think I've done it!
Sorted (I think).
Good idea. I think I've just done mine.
good idea ;)
Good idea and hopefully I managed to put it in the right place.

ETA....which is doesnt - off to have a look
Just done it
Sorted.....didnt read the op properly!......but wondering....would it be better to change the forum settings so the actual location field in our profile shows....Admin/Dan?

;D
Me?? I put my location where we are supposed to put it - in my profile.
But yes - if folk are too lazy to look there, I'll add it here.
650' asl!.More important than 50 miles of location. Historically, one of the coldest place in the country!
Equally - if people could say outdoors/indoors/ heated growing when describing a problem it would help enormously?
Another good idea Tee Gee. Now how do I get it on here?
Just testing
Just go to your profile and where it says; Personal Text: type in your location its as simple as that!
Here goes....Proud as punch!
And if it doesn't go - just delete it!
Remember to Change Profile.
think I've done it :)

Allotment is in Guisborough. Cant fit it in without losing the motto. Sorry.
This seems like a good idea. Done mine - I think!
I'm not saying - you never know what sort of weirdo may be looking in ;D
Done
Thought I'd done it when I signed up.... Forgot to click on "Change Profile"! Thank you, Tim.
I did mine when I first signed in. It does help to know what sort of problems a person has and where.
Edit: Ah, got it now.
Apologies to anyone in Camborne, Cornwall, it was the stupid developers who chose a duplicated name, why couldn't they have chosen the original name Monkfield. It is unigue in England.
It is not a good idea to have duplicated names or names that sound the same. There was an occasion when an American landed at Heath Row and asked a taxi driver to take him to Lulworth. The taxi driver only knew of Lolworth, Cambs. When they arrived they went to the Post Office and asked where the barracks were, The reply was that the nearest were Oakington. The American then ferreted out the papers and found that he wanted East Lulworth, Dorset, two hundred miles in the opposite direction.
and me
Fingers crossed!
Done maybe for an irregular poster but regular browser
Everything crossed. Silly old f*rt, aren't I? :-[
Got me a picture - thought that would be difficult. ;D Still trying with the location bit........... ??? One more try.
Fingers crossed
I hope this has worked
Alan
Done it!! I am amazed! :D busy_lizzie
Its like standing up in front of the class, then maybe (like me) getting it all wrong. ;D
Gosh after a few attempts were getting there!
Well done
Thanks to all who have indicated there whereabouts quite a variation I see which can only be good for all of us.
At least we can now relate to, and appreciate why some of us are in front or behind each other.
Thanks again
Great - but don't ignore the great facility that Dan has set up on locations?
Hi Grandma ;D Another Worthingite here
I'm on the West Tarring site, where are you?
Thanks Tee Gee! Great idea. Some of us have obviously found it a bit of a struggle and for a geriatric, computer-illiterate ole soul like me it's been a big headache! :-(However I now know I have a near-neighbour! Hello, Nelson! :))
HI NELSON! I don't have a lottie - just a tiny veg patch now in my garden- but I'm in West Worthing and must be very close to you! KETTLE ALWAYS HOT! Please pm me if you'd like to pop in for a cuppa! Love to see you. ;D ;D ;D
updated
Just registered, so checking if location appears :-\
No it doesn't!!!!!
Now it does!
Done - hopefully... might have even managed the location map too!

Great idea! Nice to see at a glance who lives where. Managed location map too!
All done and so glad everyone is joining in, as ive always thought we should do this :-*
Ning nang noo.
I should have read this before asking about my peppers!
Just off to amend my details :)
Hope I've done it - 'cos its off to bed now to get the strength up to make another raised bed tomorrow.
Just checking if mine has updated OK
Sorted. ;D ;D ;D

Testing! Might even get a picture by the end of the day! Thanks for the prompt, TG
Think I have done mine ???
Sprout does that mean you live in Atlantis. ;D ;D ;D
I'm here, just had a lovely day out in the veg patch. The days are getting longer and the excitement is building!
Sand
done it ,I think
Sorry about that, only just realised how to add my pic ;)
Just wanted to bring this thread to the top again. It's such a good idea! ;D I find the first thing I do now is look and see where in the world people are. There are so many new names cropping up - (with no location information :() - perhaps this will prompt them to add their location details - such a help when comparing notes, asking for/giving advice, etc., etc.
I have done it also I hope.
Great work by TeeGee, but WHY didn't you all do it after Dan had gone to great expense to set up a sophisticated site??
Funny world!!
Funny world - with lots of funny people (like me :-[) in it, Tim. Not all of us are as clever with these computer-thingies as you are. I hadn't a clue how to get this sort of stuff on until TeeGee started this thread - some of us need a helping shove, Tim! ;) (The location info really is helpful though, isn't it? :-*)
Hi Grandma agree with you and I also find it useful :-*
