When is a leek not a leek...............when it's a spring onion of course.
OK sometimes I do a very good impersonation of someone stupid! and here's an example - I planted my leeks next to my spring onions last year - and now that they are grown I can't tell them apart. Some of the leeks are normal leek size. some of the spring onions are normal spring onion size, but ther's a dozen in between - will it matter? Can I eat the leeks raw in a salad, and can I cook the spring onions in a whute sauce?
HELP!!! ;D
Leeks have flat leaves onions have round leaves!
Thanks Tee Gee - I'll go check my leaves
Doesn't really matter anyway, they all taste similar. You can eat young leeks raw in salad and you can cook spring onions.
Thankyou, have now managed to ID them all, and Spring onions were delicious for my tea last night! 8)
