Hi I think I have the name right,It is the long green variagated plant that is seen in hanging baskets. I see plants all the time, locally and in catalogues but cannot find the seeds anywhere. I have seen Nepata seeds in catalogues from the same compamies that sell the plants, but it is not the same plant, it is catnip and grows just a few inches tall. Can anyone shed any light on the mystery please. Thank yoy Jeannine
Jeannine,
Try looking up Glechoma hederacea 'Veriegata' (Ground Ivy). I had a look in my RHS book under Nepeta and the only one which was variegated was a referral to the above. It is described as;
Stoloniferous, evergreen or s.evergreen perennial with trailing stems bearing kidney shaped leaves, to 3cm across, heart-shaped at the bases, and soft pale green, marbled pure white, especially at the ascalloped margins. Bears whorls of 4-6 lilac-mauve, dead nettle-like flowers in summer. Height to 15cm
Phew! :o A bit long winded but it may just help ;D
I'm gonna go and look up what Stoloniferous means! :-\ ;D

Hi the one I am looking for is sold as plants for hanging baskets.I have dobies catalogue in front of me now. Nepeta...Long trailing green shoots with white spashes.The leaves are quite small, round,vwer wavy edges,it has no flower. I have never been able to find seeds for this varigated plant. Then I also find the same name on seeds that says Nepeta..no cat should be without it but it is not he same and it is not a trailer. So Iam compleely lost.The palnt I want is seen in almost every hanging baskets and it is calles nepeta.
Any ideas anyone.
