we have a load of Autumn fruiting Raspberries which we wish to 'thin out', we know this is the time of year to be doing it ...
question: if we move plants and/or suckers now, will they fruit this coming Autumn ?
thanks for any comments / guidance
Mikey
Hi Mikey
Based on my own experience of doing this last year, I would say yes, but the crop will be reduced - or could be that my canes are poor stock, but I'm giving them another chance this year, with tlc in the shape of manure and potash.
Fruit wise, I probably picked about 1.5 lbs of fruit from 23 canes. In the end, I didn't bother picking them for the house, but kept them as lottie snacks. ;D
You can move them now with no problem at all.
Put them in their new position, heel them in well and surround them with some well rotted manure and Im sure you will enjoy a good crop this time around.
Good luck :)
