Title: Thompson and Morgan delivery
Post by: Jeannine on March 04, 2007, 15:27:48
Hi,I have finally got some of my order from Thompson and Morgan,I got the shallotts but none of the onion sets I ordered, neither did I get the freebie onion sets due me, I got a £3 voucher instead. I got the spud sacks but no spuds.
I doubt very much if I shall order again. Really dissapointed as I particularly wanted Mokum carrotts and that was the only place I could find them, feel I want to cancel the rest of back orders now , do you think I would get my money back ? XX Jeannine

I often wonder how this company stays in business. I used them once years ago, never again. Pity as they pretend to do some interesting stuff. I stick to Heritage seeds nowadays.

I know a lot of people have been disapointed with T&M this year - myself included - don't think they are usually as bad - wonder what's happening there.  Let us know how you get on Jeannine cos I am still waiting for some stuff & feel  like cancelling too.

PS I didn't get the free onion sets either.

If you have the time maybe a letter to them explaining your problem with them they may be able to sort it out. Have they taken the money from your account already for the back order? If not i'm sure if you cancel money they will be on the phone staight away.

I didn't get the free seed potatoes promised with my potato order either, £3 voucher same as you.
I don't know what has happened with T&M this year, but I have been put right off I'm afraid.....

Mokum carrots; I was going to use up my voucher to try those on Jeannine's recommendation!

Phil I have sent 2 emails already to that link from your previous posting..no response. Actually I am not really moaning, many of us are waiting for stuff and it helps if we know what is one the move. XX Jeannine

Got my seed potatoes from them though they were fairly expensive, but no trouble with the delivery.  I was just about to order blueberry bushes and strawberry plants, so perhaps I will look elsewhere. Thanks for the warning. busy_lizzie

Thanks to all for the warnings. I was just about to send off an order as an alternative to driving 5 miles each way to the GC that stocks T&M seeds.  Think I'll look elsewhere and maybe even fix the puncture on my bike. Time to start training for the season ahead!! :)

Yes I spoke to them last week, they told me some stuff was on it's way, that arrived but short some stuff, seeds had got lost in the post, they have replaced some, but some are now out of stock.Onions are back ordered still. My big concern now is that I have ordered these heritage microplants, about £22 worth, they are not despatched yet as it is too cold but with all the messing about I just want to end the problem now. They say there is no problem with those but the girl on the phone didn't seem to know when the missing seeds, onions etc would be there,it was we get them when we get them sort of thing. I was wondering if the other folks on he earlier thread that were having problems had got sorted out.  I will phone them again tomorrow. XX Jeannine

In ten years of dealing with T&M I have never had a problem. I think the best thing is to order as soon as the catalouge is published.
The only problem this year was my spud order was delivered two weeks before Christmas. Z

I received my seed pots from T & M and the freebie (Bonnie) without problem.  Now chitting nicely ready for planting.  I used the web site, does that make a difference?

After all the moaning about T&M I thought I'd better add my latest experience.  I got an email from them yesterday offering blight resistant tomatoes which I fancied - I couldn't get the website to work so I phoned them this morning.  A very friendly woman took my order for 4 packets of seeds then told me I would also get a free pack of tumbler toms, plus my most expensive sees would be free plus she said I should have had a £5 off voucher so she took that off the total - I ended up actually paying just the postage.

That's more like it!

There seems to be so many postal problems with this company and they're overpriced anyway compared to most of the other places of which there are loads. I'd suggest buying your stuff from other suppliers next year and forgetting T&M.

Although there was a problem with my potato order - they delivered Sarpo Mira and not Axona as I had asked - they were efficient in sending me the Axona ones and letting me keep the Mira, which for 60 was a good deal.

Internet ordering does seem the best way of ordering from them, but they didn't enamour themselves to me over the other mini problem - only 4 seeds in the aubergine packet @ £2.49! The young lady laughed and suggested I plant them carefully... Ho bloody ho.

To be fair, I received the Mayan Gold potatoes I ordered today too; earlier than I expected!

Glad your carrots have turned up Jeannine, I'm tempted to have a go at those too!

You have to try them, the ad blurb that got me a few years ago said they cannot be grown commercially beacuse they are so crisp they have to be dug not pulled, I do pull them but often snap them. If you have a problem finding them PM me and I will send you a few om my packet  XX Jeannine

I got my free onions the day following delivery of my main order. I later received a letter from them apologising that they couldn't supply my free onions and included the £3 voucher. Haven't received my heat-treated red onions yet but a bit early for them.
