What is a reliable variety? Good yield and flavour?

Forget yield, forget flavour- think CHEF. Jermor, or similar.

Grew Pikant last year, they were a good strong flavour and yield was Ok but they weren't very big, could be something to do with the watering though. Hoping to grow some different ones this year.

Ground conditions dictate timing rather than the calendar. I find early April suited to my area!

I shall be planting mine in a couple of weeks, as long as the ground has dried a bit so it is a bit more workable, too wet and some of the shallots will probably rot.    ;D ;D ;D

Put ours in about a month ago, they are just peeping through.  The soil on our lotty is very light with gravel about 2ft down though.  These are our seed 3rd year of doing this forgotten what they were excellent flavour though.
